"Great!" That was the first thing Sayuri said when she awoke, sitting up abruptly. "I'm all better now!"
Inuyasha, who'd been digging a large, human-sized hole over to the side of where she laid, jumped into the air like a startled cat. "Sayuri-baba, you're alive?!"
"Um..." Sayuri stared at the hole in the ground. "Inuyasha... you... did you dig this?" She turned to face him. "I heard that dogs dig holes when they feel stressed, is that why?"
He scoffed. "Don't be stupid! I was going to bury you here!"
Sayuri gasped, her hands flying up to cover her mouth. "You were willing to give me a proper burial? That's so sweet!"
"Wh-What? No! You're ridiculous," Inuyasha spat, turning away from her angrily.
Sayuri stood up, hands drifting down to her neck. All she felt was soft, smooth skin, and her rhythmic pulse thrumming slowly and consistently under her fingers. The injury was fully healed; after all, a doctor who can't do this much isn't worth her salt. Still, she cast a hesitant glance over to the hanyō, though he didn't seem suspicious of her in the slightest.
Inuyasha loomed over her, arms crossed and brows furrowed. "What do we do now?" he asked, and Sayuri lowered her eyes.
"Kaede should be with the rest of the villagers, hopefully somewhere safe. But we probably shouldn't go find her, since it'll only put them all into danger. The only other person who could maybe see the hairs is Kagome, and she..." Sayuri faltered. "Is it possible to bring her back from her home? She shouldn't be too far, right?"
"Don't you know? Kagome is from another world. Wherever she is, she's probably long gone by now."
"Another world? But that means..." Sayuri blanched. "What does that mean?"
"Hell if I know." Inuyasha scoffed. "But we need that girl to defeat this demon?"
"Well, she should be able to see the hair, so... most likely?"
"Hmph! So now we have to get her?"
Sayuri was going to offer that she'd look for Kagome while Inuyasha rested, but then she thought the better of it. "Yes. I must trouble you to look for her with me." She smiled softly before quickly sobering. "She mentioned something about a well, I believe? Do you know anything about that?"
"A well...?" He looked to the side in the direction of where the well might've been, and he smirked coldly. "It must be the well near where I was imprisoned. For 50 years!" Any semblance of humor fell from his face, and Sayuri flinched.
"Well, at least you know where it is?" she offered before questioning, "You do know where it is, right?"
"How could I forget?" he snapped before crouching down slightly. "Get on. Hurry! We don't have all day!"
Though Sayuri felt a little ashamed for making a child younger than her carry her, she quickly forgot this when Inuyasha began to run. Instead, all she could focus on was keeping her last meal in her stomach.
