This was a personal take on one of my favourite danmei novels, Mo Dao Zu Shi (Grandmaster of Demonic Cultivation) by Mo Xiang Tong Xiu. The idea was conceived during the overture of Roe V. Wade verdict in the United States of America, and was eventually shaped into the final structure right as the United States of America as well as the United Kingdom came up with a terribly transphobic bill that turned the individual bodies into political battlegrounds.
This is a fanfiction that retells the story, but from the perspective of a male identifying intersex person that has a uterus in a world where having a uterus is assigned to inferiority. This is not meant to show a magical change in the way of the world, nor does it glorify the wrongs. It is simply a candid image of a familiar world, where the characters are just as human the reader is.
I would like to thank my amazing professors for giving me a chance to put these ideas into words. I would like to thank my best friend for patiently hearing me out tinkering with the plot a bazillion times and offering her valuable insight. I would like to thank my amazing partner for being an inspiration, in the sense I based the majority of my interpretation of Lan Wangji on her. And last but not the least, I would like to thank my mother for cheering me on although she did not really seem interested in reading my work.
