Miah
I walked into work after my lunch break feeling refreshed. I do wish it was a little longer but whatever, it's not. It wasn't really busy right now, which is not really a surprise. After that other coffee, food, arcade, night club place Relley's was established. Uncle D was still stubborn with changing things around. I'm afraid if business does not start picking up, he will lose this place.
"Miah, can you set the stage up for tonight?" Uncle D asked
He interrupted my thoughts for something he can do. I just did it anyways, I try not to cause him to much stress. He has enough of that with his twins.
I went up on the stage and began to untangle these wires. The only thing that people still come to see is the talent shows. Something that will never change here.
"Yo, Miah." I heard as they touched my shoulder. It made me jump a little and looked up to see one of my co-workers, Sammie. He became my best guy friend. He is a little older than me and is in his second year of college. I usually make him help with my home work and projects. And yes Uncle D finally hired some workers. My dad made him so it take some of the stress off of me and plus he had no choice since I started school. Speaking of my dad, he is officially back, I pray it's for good. We moved into a apartment that is not to far away from my uncles and where I can commute to school.
" Hey Sam, can you help untangle these wires?" I asked going back to untangling them
" In a minute, some creeps in hoodies just walked in look." I followed his finger that was pointing to the people who was walking in.
I shot up and looked over there. I examined them before I walked over. When I did reached their table, I stood there and smiled. What threw me off was that they wasn't returning them. I began to think why not?
"Can we help you?" One of the guys said
They all then one by one removed their hoods and sat down.
I then saw it wasn't what I expected. Just regular people. Strangers.
"I'm sorry. She umm.. didn't take her meds this morning." I heard Sammie say as he took my hand and took me over to the front counter
"You have to stop thinking every group of people who is wearing hoodies is them. What's the chances they will be back?" He said
I just sighed and agreed to those words. What's the chance they will come back here again?
"You're right. I'm going to try harder." I said making way back to the stage
"Good, and plus you have Marcus to keep you distracted ." He said
"I do" I said to myself going back to what I was originally was doing.
If you haven't caught on, Marcus is my boyfriend. Met him on my first day of college. We've been dating for 5 months now. He makes me happy. He is also the sweetest. My dad even likes him.. I take that back, my dad tolerates him. He's still not used to me and this whole boys thing, but he's coming along.
After setting up the stage, I helped Sam at the counter, customers was now making their way in because the talent show was starting soon.
"So what do you think the performers are going to be like tonight?" Sam asked me
"Well most of them have videos on you tube and I checked them out, they are all pretty good. Should be a good show." I replied
"That's good, last week was horrible." he stated
"It was, remember the girl with the blonde wig, she was trying so hard to be Nicki Minaj. "
"She was like it's Roman, and what ever else nonsense she was saying." We just laughed at the memory.
"Hey everyone, are you ready for tonight's show? I know I am." The audience clapped and cheered
"Our first performer is named Cruz, Yup I said it his name is Cruz. He's a very talented musician and tonight he will serenade us with his amazing voice and guitar. Give it up for Cruz." I handed him the mic as I made my way off the stage.
"Thanks for that intro Miah." He said while settling on the stool with his guitar
The shop was quiet and ready to see what he has to offer. He played an original song and the crowd loved it. I've seen so many talented people on this stage and he makes my top five.
"How was that, give it up for Cruz another time." Sam told the audience
He then introduced the next performer and this went on until after the fifth performer. It was an intermission, and plus the next two performers was not here yet.
"Have the two acts gotten here yet?" Uncle D asked
"Nope, and actually only one of the last few acts is here. If the first two don't show up soon, he can go and maybe end this early." I suggested
"We have no choice now do we."He snarled
"Or we can have Miah put on a show." Sam always finds a way to make me sing. It never works. I haven't sang or danced on that stage for a while now. I have no reason to and I simply just don't want to.
"No Sam, so stop spitting that idea out there okay." I said
"Maybe he is right, it's been a while, and I bet the people will love it." Is he serious the both of them are actually on the same page. No one can make me get back on that stage.
None of the other performers showed up. Sucks for them now. The last performer went and I went on stage to announce she was the last one.
"Wasn't that amazing. Sorry to say , she was our.."
"Who here would love to see Miah sing a song for us. Clap it up." Sam snatched the mic and interrupted me.
I glared at him, indicating when this is over he will die.
"I will even sing with her." He said
"This is a talent show. You sir have no talent." I said snatching the mic back
"How about I'll sing for him." I looked out in the crowd to see who said that.
My heart skipped a beat as I made contact with the brown eyed boy.
So who do you think is there? Prodigy maybe? Not sure how often I will update but hope you enjoy this chapter. Comment and vote thanks :)
