Helen
"No" I say, shaking my head.
"It's not up for discussion. You will marry him to save our business and you have to give up fashion school" my father says without looking at me.
"I don't want to marry him. Why can't Taylor marry him? She's clearly more fit for this role"
"He wants someone calm. Someone he can actually have a discussion with and we both know the only thing Taylor talks about is nonsense"
"But Dad I-"
"Christ Helen just do this one thing and get it right! You mess up so many times that when I ask you to do one simple thing you want to start whining about it. You will give up school and marry Logan Graves and give him as many babies as he wants and that's that. Now get out of here. The sight of is making me sick"
I stand to leave. What else can I do? They've never forgiven me for what happened all those years ago. I was a child for goodness sake.
Fuck my life.Logan
I'm getting married.
Who would have thought that me, Logan Gunner Graves, would one day get married. And to an Avery no less. At least it's one of the better sisters. God knows I can't stand the talkative one.
"Sir?" a voice snaps me out of my reverie.
"Sorry. Can you repeat that?" I tell Alyssa, my assistant."Of course. I was saying that maybe we should look at new candidates for the C.O.F position "
"Why? Terry is clearly good at his job. One of the best we've had since the company's founding.""Well Logan it's just that he's been taking so much time off that I'm worried about the company's future it's all. I've taken the liberty to come up with a candidate list and these are some of the best candidates to date"
"Let me see the list" ignoring the wide eyes of everyone. She thinks I didn't notice her calling me by my first name. Big mistake.
"Of course" she response in a chirp voice and slides the list to me, her hand lingering on mine longer than necessary.
After going through the list for five minutes I slam it on the table.
" No. No to the list. Terry Sandton is by far the best accountant I've ever worked with. Half these candidates are still wet behind the ears, others near retirement and the rest probably don't know what they're doing. Answer is no"
"Logan-""It's Mr. Graves to you. Understood ?"
"Yes Mr. Graves" she huffs out.
"Perfect. Now if there are no further questions or additions then we can all get back to work" with that I make my way to my office.
As soon as I enter the office, I open the safe by my desk and pull out the ring I purchased for my fiancée.
Fiancée.
I wonder what she's like. If she's anything like her sister than I'm in for the worst marriage of my life. I pick up the phone and dial her father's number and put the phone to my ear. He picks up on the third ring.
"Logan. What do I owe the pleasure?" he rushes out.
"Benjamin. I'd like to arrange a dinner meeting at your house. I want to formally meet my fiancée."
"Of course. When would you like to meet?"
"Tonight if possible. It's Friday and I have nothing better to do"
"Oh come on. I'm sure a handsome guy like you can will have no problem getting some ass for the weekend. How about we push it for next weekend so you have some fun before you get trapped with Helen?" he suggests.
"Benjamin I'm meeting with you and your family tonight for dinner and that's that" I gruff out.
"Of course. Whatever you say"
"And if you ever suggest I cheat on my fiancée ever again I will ruin you. I'm a lot of things Benny boy but a cheater is not one of them. Expect me at 7:30 sharp" and with that I hang up the phone.
Stupid man.
