Helen
I pull up at Logan's office and I must say I'm impressed. The lobby is sleek but very comfortable looking. I'd say it's ambient.
I head to reception and ask where Logan's floor is when I hear my name being called. I turn and it's a mountain on a man walking towards me. Taller and bulkier than Logan, the mocha skinned man stops a foot in from of me.
"Jamal David. Head of security. I was told to escort you to the boss's office" he says while holding his hand out for me to shake.
"I'm guessing you already know my name Mr. David. It's a pleasure"
"Pleasure is all mine. Shall we?"
"Of course. Lead the way."
"I'll take it from Donna" he says to the receptionist.
"Alright Jamal. Just don't long. I have something here that needs your attention"
"Yes ma'am"
Ten minutes later, we get off the elevator and I'm in Logan's office.
"I'll have to go but if you need anything just call star one on his office phone and we'll get it for you"
"Thank you. Where is Logan though?"
"He's probably in a meeting but I'm sure he'll be done soon. Also, don't mind Alyssa his personal assistant. She's a major bitch with an even major stick up her ass I'm convinced she has splinters in every part of her. Including her soul. If she has one" he says, looking genuinely disturbed.
"Thank you? I guess"
"See you around boss lady" he says and walks out.
I look around his office and notice that despite it's masculine appearance it's so sterile. No pictures or anything. I spot a table by the floor to ceiling window I assume is for eating and set it up. It doesn't take me long and by the time I finish the office door opens and he walks in. He doesn't seem to be in a good mood at all and I wonder if he'll want me here. All those negative thoughts fly out the window when he sees me.
"There she is. Hi baby" he smiles and walks over to me. Wrapping his arms around he gives me a kiss on the cheek on the corner of my lips.
"Hi. How was your meeting?" I ask, hugging him back.
"It was boring." He says that and steps away from me. He eyes run over my frame and stop at mouth. At that moment I hear someone clearing their throat. I look to see a beautiful woman staring at us. Yup. Jamal was right. She's uptight as hell.
"You must be the boss's girlfriend?" She says this in such a condescending tone that it immediately pisses me off. I don't like her at all.
"Fiancée actually. I left my ring at home if that what you're wondering" I say when I noticed her eyes on my ring finger.
"You can go lunch Alyssa. Thank you"
"But we have to go over the meeting"
"We can do that later. My wife is here and she deserves my attention" he says dismissively.
"Yes sir" she says and leaves.
"She's fun."
"She is a pain in the ass. If she wasn't good at job I would have fired her"
"I guess. Let's have lunch. I want to talk to you about something"
"Of course" he says pulling out a chair for me then lowering himself across the table from me. It's a little table so it's a much more intimate setting.
"So, what did you want to talk about?" He asks.
"What would you like me to move in?"
"Today"
"Already? Isn't it too soon?"
"Nah. Move in today and we'll go out for dinner tomorrow night since I'm taking the rest of the week off. I'll make sure you have a ring on your finger when we walk out of the restaurant"
"Oh yeah. The engagement. Do you even know my ring size? My favorite shape?"
"Yes. I won't let you see the ring before time though. I want you to be surprised"
"Okay then."
"Enough about that. Let's eat" he says reaching for his fork.
Logan
I take a forkful and immediately I'm hit with all kinds of flavors.
"This is delicious baby." I mumble out.
"You like it?" She asks with a small smile.
"I fucking love this. I haven't had a proper meal in a while"
"You had homemade pasta on Friday remember?" She sasses. My girl is feisty. I'll have fun with her.
"This is better than what I had on Friday. The food and the company"
"Right. I have a question" she says before taking in food.
"Of course"
"Why did you agree to marry me?"
"What do you mean?"
"Exactly what I mean Logan don't play stupid" she says rolling her eyes and eating up.
"I know what you mean baby I just wanted to rile you up a bit. I agreed because I don't like your dad and I was curious at what you were like. Happy?"
"No."
"Okay. Let me be more specific then. I wanted to know what you were like because the first time I saw you, you were walking out of the deans office at school and I haven't stopped thinking about you since. I was going to track you down and approach you but I guess your dad had other ideas. Happy with that explanation?" I ask as I twirl more spaghetti around my fork. I decided that's the safest answer. Now she knows part of why I agreed to marry her.
"When was this?"
"A few years ago. The finance and economics faculty had a seminar and I was one of the guest speakers"
"I remember that seminar but I don't remember you" she says searching my eyes.
"You barely looked at me really. I saw you and I never forgot the pretty girl who gave me a ghost of a smile while wearing sweats and the biggest sweater I've ever seen"
"Oh my goodness that's what I was wearing?" She groans and covers her face.
"Yes. And you had weird hair lips in. You looked cute" I say chuckling at her reaction.
"You saw me like that?"
"Yeah baby. I saw you" I say somberly.
