Hyun woke up feeling hazy as the world around him slowly faded in.
As he looked around, he realized that he was no longer in the school.
He was now laying on a bed in Hyuk's apartment. Hyuk, however, was nowhere to be seen. But, Hyun was too tired to find him. The pain was still nauseating and he was too tired to keep his eyes open. All he could do was let himself succumb to the feeling of sleep.
-
The next time Hyun woke up, Hyuk was seated at the desk next to the bed. He was seemingly fixated on the screen in front of him.
Hyun pushed himself up, but doing so caused his wounds to burn. He tried his best to muffle his pained groans, but, Hyuk noticed.
The older gets up walks to the side of the bed.
"How are you feeling?"
Hyun shrugs, and looks away.
But as he does, he sees notification after notification. Texts came in one after the other, all from the same chat.'Is he dead?'
'Maybe he finally killed himself lol'
'Lmaoo maybe this attempt was actually successful'
'Let's fucking hope'
These texts brought more thoughts to his already swarming mind. Reminding Hyun of just how broken he was and how easy it was for others to break him even more.
He was weak.
The scars were enough proof of that.
However, his focus is shifted when the phone is lifted from the table.
When he looks up, he sees Hyuk looking at him with an unreadable expression. After a few moments of silence, Hyuk speaks up.
"I'll be right back, I need to get some medical supplies."
Hyun nods and the other leaves.
Hyun takes this opportunity to look around the small bedroom.
The wall near the desk was covered in notes and diagrams for different parts of the human anatomy. The two walls around it had bookshelves lined with books ranging from books on the creation of video games, to horror stories, to textbooks. But, the thing that caught Hyun's eye was a small photo on the other side of the bedside table.
It was a photo of him and Hyuk.
The photo was from a few weeks after they had met. It brought a small, sad smile to his face, he remembered how happy they both had been that day."Hey, I'm back."
Hyuk sits at the edge of the bed and unpacks different supplies.
The wounds hurt. Hyun would be lying if he said that they didn't, but, something about the quick and precise way that Hyuk was able to take care of it made it seemingly hurt less.To say that Hyun didn't deserve the other would be an understatement.
He had been with him through his lowest moments and yet still insisted to be by his side. He had been there when Hyun had tried to kill himself, he had been there when Hyun picked up the razor, and here he was, helping him with his wounds after he had been beaten yet again.Hyun never felt the need to cry anymore. He usually felt empty. Like a old, rotting house, forgotten by everyone.
But something.. something about these thoughts triggered the tears he had thought to have been long gone.It didn't take long for Hyuk to notice this bizarre change in behavior. But once he did he immediately sat down next to the other, hugging him tightly to his side.
Hyuk lightly pets his hair in what the other assumed was an attempt to help calm the him.It was strange and foreign, having someone who actually cared. Hyun didn't feel like he deserved it. But, he couldn't deny how nice it felt to be safe and loved. Even if it was only for a short time.
"Thank you."
Hyun says before letting the warmth and comfort lull him into a dreamless sleep.
