By that heavenly moon I vowed
It was the first month of term. All students and teachers were back in Nevermore, except Marilyn Thornhill.
Since no other teacher wanted to lead this class until now, this subject was cancelled until further notice.
Larissa Weems had bridged this lesson by filling it with philosophy and history.
It was the one subject that Wednesday Addams mastered perfectly and yet hated the most. Maybe it was the fact that she had mastered this subject, she didn't know.
It had not been a successful start for Wednesday until now. She still hadn't spoken to Larissa about what had happened and she was trying to avoid it. Much to the dismay of the headmistress, who had tried to talk to Wednesday again and again, but always without success, as Miss Addams was a master in hiding. She wondered if she had only imagined it then, when she was dying and Wednesday had looked at her full of concern and love. The young Addams had grabbed her hand, held it tightly and had not left her side. She had also been the first to visit her when she came to in hospital and it increasingly confused Larissa.
Now that she was well again, she wanted to talk to her, to thank her sincerely for her courage and help, but she had no chance like that. She decided to try after class.
Glancing at the clock, Larissa noticed that her lesson was due to start in just under 10 minutes and so she went into the classroom where the first students, including Wednesday, were already sitting and waiting.
After a quick greeting, Larissa sat down at her desk, opened her workbook and glanced every now and then at the younger woman who was desperately trying to concentrate on the conversation with Enid until the moment when their eyes met for a moment.
Larissa's heart suddenly beat hard in her chest, so that she had to lower her gaze again. She chided herself for the feeling that the girl could trigger in her.
After the last student had appeared in the room, Principal Weems decided to begin the lesson."Welcome, dear ones. I know that some of you are not so settled with this topic yet, so I would like to read something from the book and then discuss it with you.
As this book needs your full attention so that you understand everything, I ask you to be quiet and listen. This is especially true for you Miss Sinclair."Enid looked at Larissa with wide eyes and then sheepishly looked towards the table, followed by her words.
" Yes, Principal Weems."Larissa smirked slightly at the girl's behaviour. She was bright and full of life, but qualities she could not use in this class.
When the last student had also turned his attention to her, she took her book and began to read.
"Shakespeare, Romeo and Juliet."
Excited groans could be heard in the front rows, while in the back row, there was a roll of the eyes followed by an annoyed sigh. This was what Wednesday had feared. Shakespeare. But if she was honest, inside she had been waiting for this topic to come up.
She rested her face on her hand, annoyed, while the other drew imaginary circles on the tabletop."(Romeo) Who laughs at scars that never felt no wound - - But hush! what light breaks from that window? It is the east, and Juliet is the sun - -
Arise, fair sun, and blot out that envious Luna, who is already pale and sick with chagrin that thou, her girl, art fairer than she."Ajax and Xavier began to giggle. They already found it funny how swollen this language seemed to be.
"(Romeo) How if her eyes were there, and those in her head? The brightness of her cheeks would shame those stars, as day-light a lamp; her eyes, if they shone in the sky, would pour down such a stream of brilliancy through the air, that the birds would begin to sing, and think it were not night: behold! she leans her cheek against her hand! Oh that I were a glove on that hand, that I might touch that cheek!"
