A little authors note-
This is just a short sweet thing that isn't meant to be too long, mostly sweet because I'm mentally ill and love seeing men get the comfort I desire as a man.
He sat in the breakroom, looking out of the window to see the weather outside. It was a dark rainy day, Horangi's least favorite weather. The sun was being blocked, it was all muddy outside, and the feeling of rain on his uniform made him feel really heavy. He just really hated it. Luckily he didn't have to go outside that day but someone he knew did. It was someone he had barely known but had seen around because it was basically impossible to not see him since he was 6'10. Almost like he was summoned by Horangi thinking about him for a split second the man who stood at 6 '10 entered the room, tracking in mud and water. Instantly, Horangi got annoyed.
"Hey," Horangi spoke with an annoyed tone, "Couldn't you have cleaned up before coming in here first?"
Horangi had known he was the colonel, Colonel Konig, but that didn't make him want to be any less verbal about what he thought. Konig just grabbed a water bottle from the fridge that was there and a curly straw from a drawer. Horangi didn't even know there were straws in that drawer so he was pleasantly surprised. He just watched as this colonel put a curly straw into his water bottle, stuck it under his sniper hood, and drank it all while soaking wet from being outside for a while.
It was an odd sight until Konig said, "Sorry for the mess, I was thirsty."
Soon enough Horangi finally couldn't hold in his laugh so he burst out laughing. Konig was incredibly confused but didn't comment until twenty seconds in of Horangi laughing.
"I don't get it, what's so hilarious?" He inquired.
Horangi took a moment to calm down and answered with a hidden smile under his mask, "Ah, it's just that someone with your stature and with how you are soaked right now makes it funny that you're drinking a bottle of water with a curly straw."
Horangi stopped his goofing the moment he felt a notification from his phone in his pocket. A nice moment quickly ruined. He looked and sighed as he saw the notification. It was an Instagram notification from a cousin of his. In the post, it showed them putting up a Christmas tree since the holiday was fast approaching. God, Christmas. He didn't want to think about this holiday. Not a single invite had come his way thanks to his relationship with his family being on thin ice thanks to his past gambling addiction including other things and he hadn't been able to get close enough to anyone in KorTac to be invited to anything.
While KorTac had been rather accepting of people he had quickly learned that being open to people about things would be difficult in this line of work. He had no room for a dating life in the slightest but with how everything looked it didn't look like he could date within his race even with how much he was trying which was an issue. His family was already less accepting of the fact he was queer but the idea of being queer and dating someone who wasn't Korean and bringing them to see the family? It was unthinkable!
As he was thinking in his head he was interrupted by Konig saying "Are you coming to the party?"
All Horangi managed to spit out was a confused "Huh? Party?"
"Ja, the Christmas party KorTac is throwing," Konig responded.
Party? Horangi wasn't told about the party until now. He thought for a moment, considering all the options he had for the holidays. It only took him a minute to decide.
"I will be there. Could you text me more information about it later?" Horangi said.
Konig nodded and gave Horangi his number. This had genuinely excited Horangi, he was invited to an actual Christmas party with people! He cared deeply for his family but it was too hard to keep the peace at the moment. At least this way the holidays won't be so stress-filled.
He smiled big under his mask and looked outside. Sure, it was raining, but soon the sun would be out.
