━━━━━━ CHAPTER THIRTEEN.

━━━━━━

later that day, they all found out that there was a double attack on nearly headless nick and, incidentally, justin finch-fletchley himself.

the whole situation was ridiculous. the fact that everyone thought harry could be the heir of slytherin was quite funny. fred and george seemed to think so as well.

"make way for the heir of slytherin!" they would shout out as harry walked down the corridors. "seriously evil wizard coming through..."

percy was deeply disapproving of this behavior, and ginny didn't seem to be very amused either.

"oh don't!" she wailed everytime fred asked harry loudly who he was planning to attack next, or when george pretended to ward harry off with a large clove of garlic when they met.

her friends, however, found it hilarious. the twins would grin at the snickering first years as they bombarded harry with the most absurd statements. harry didn't mind either, it made him feel better that a few people found the idea of his being slytherin's heir ludicrous.

"the recent attack really set everyone off," benjamin muttered to the others, watching students rush to book seats on the hogwarts express to go home for christmas.

"i'm sure they've assumed that harry's going to stay," rory snorted. "meaning that they would take any chance at leaving the castle."

"i almost feel bad for them," lani said, thoughtfully.

"don't," evelyn replied. "it's their problem."

the long and chaotic term eventually ended. evelyn felt as though a large brick had been lifted from her shoulders now walking down the halls of hogwarts. knowing that she had no responsibilities for the next two weeks was something she would definitely take advantage of. some of her friends were staying as well, the weasleys not wanting to visit charlie in romania and benjamin's parents being out of town.

"but rin!" lani had wailed. "draco is staying, why can't you?"

"father specifically demanded that i come home," carina mumbled. "i'm sure draco has told him quite a bit now, it's best if i listen."

"leave it up to him to ruin everything," evelyn groaned, pulling carina and rory into a hug. "stay safe, won't you? we'll let you know if anything happens."

as majourity of the students had left for the holidays, the gryffindor common room was basically empty, meaning that they had consistently seen harry, ron, hermione, and the weasley twins playing exploding snap very loudly. sometimes they had joined them, but others evelyn had decided against it seeing as everytime they played harry and ron would secretly exchange annoyingly dark looks.

christmas came around rather quickly. evelyn woke up to the fall of snow lightly tapping the window of her dormitory. she sat up from her bed to watch it flutter down to the earth, slowly draping the grass of the grounds with its soft appearance.

"merry christmas, evelyn," she turned to look at ginny, who was stretching from her bed.

"merry christmas, ginny!" evelyn smiled at her. "let's go find the others, yeah?"
