At this point, Tsukishima couldn't help but feel puzzled. Why did they keep greeting him in the morning like this? Was it some sort of inside joke? The confusion swirled in his mind until L/N finally pulled him out of his thoughts.
"Er... Tsukishima?"
He turned to face them, noticing the mess with the blue ink all over their hands and desk.
"You don't have any tissues, do you? My pen.. er.. exploded."
Tsukishima's face must have revealed his amusement because L/N started laughing too. The teacher, noticing the commotion, instructed Tsukishima to accompany L/N to the restroom and help them clean up while missing just a bit of the class.
"I'm so sorry about this."
L/N apologized as they walked together to the nearest restroom, with Tsukishima kindly opening doors for them along the way.
"It's alright."
Tsukishima replied gently.
"I have a double block of science, so I don't mind missing a bit of it."
"Oh, who do you have for science?"
L/N asked while the water ran.
"Mr. Hutchins."
"Oh, the guy who smells like cat food!"
L/N exclaimed from the bathroom.
Tsukishima couldn't help but chuckle at the remark.
"How did your pen even explode anyway?"
"Fountain pen, they do that sometimes."
Which prompted an annoyed shout from the bathroom.
"It's not coming off!"
Laughing, Tsukishima shook his head.
"You can make it the new school fashion trend,"
He playfully suggested. Coming out of the restroom, his hand still stained with blue ink, L/N laughed.
"I could pretend it's a tattoo."
"Pretty sure that's against school rules."
Tsukishima replied, amused by their light-hearted banter.
The two of them walked back to class just after the first bell had rung.
"Hey Tsukishima?"
"Yes?"
L/N beamed up at him, an aura of brightness and cheerfulness surrounding them like the arrival of spring.
"Can we be friends?"
Tsukishima's heart skipped a beat at their sincere request.
"Of course."
He replied with a soft smile, feeling an unspoken connection forming between them.
From that moment on, their homeroom encounters blossomed into a friendship that felt like a warm embrace—a beautiful spring unfolding in their lives.
