I'm back at home preparing to sneak out. I pack a bag with a flashlight, some water, a compass, and some rope. I don't really need some of this stuff because were not going to be out there that long but I like to be over the top. As I'm packing, my little sister runs into my room.

"Hey watcha doing? Why are you packing? Are we moving? I wanna move!" She reminds me of Luke, just louder and more nosey. She just turned 7 and her name is Lily.

"Nothing get out of my room I'm busy"

"Doing what? I wanna go with you. Please, please, please, please, please" I almost throw her out the window but my mom grabs and yells at her to pick her toys up in her room.

"Jay dinner is ready downstairs. What's that bag for?", she asks.

"Um, nothing" I say walking out to lead her away from my room before she gets to suspicious. "What's for dinner?"

"Your favorite", she responds. I'm surprised she even knows because I eat whatever she cooks without an complaint. I walk into the kitchen.

"Oh yum macaroni". Macaroni isn't my favorite but I don't say anything.

Mom starts wiping down the clean counters. She's always cleaning a clean house. "So how's school. Don't you have a few weeks left till summer?"

"Yea we get out around my birthday", I say with my mouth full, hurriedly trying to eat.

"Oh yeah are you excited to turn 14? What do you want for your birthday? I'll try to get it"

I don't like asking for presents because I know we've been tough on money ever since Dad disappeared after Lily was born.

"Oh anything is fine"

She stops wiping the too clean counter and looks at me. "Are you sure? Don't worry about the money just tell me what you want. Since I put Lily in an after school program I got another job so I might be able to get."

"Well I guess some new shoes would be ok." I've been wearing these Vans since 6th grade and they're starting to hurt my toes and give me blisters.

"Ok, I'll get you the best ones in the shop", she says smiling.

"I'm done eating. I'm pretty tired so I'm going to go to sleep early"

"Oh are you alright? It's only 6:50pm"

"Yeah I'm just really sleepy", I say and fake yawn to seal the act.

"Well, ok goodnight I love you", she comes over and kisses me on the cheek.

"Love you too." I walk away to my room. I close and lock the door, then make a fake person out of my pillows and clothes on the bed. 'That should do it'. I grab my bag and climb out the window, making sure to keep the window open. It wasn't that much of a drop because our house is only one story. I grab my skateboard and make sure to keep clear of the kitchen windows so my Mom doesn't catch me. I ride my skateboard to the meeting spot we all agreed on earlier at school.
