Yipppeeee time for some Marlton angst >:))))

---------

It was striking midnight. Marlon was still awake watching TV, specifically every musical he found on any streaming service.
He couldn't get to sleep for whatever reason, he might as well watch a movie or something. Maybe it will somehow tire him out.

Newton on the other hand had fallen asleep a while ago. He had his head leaning on Marlons shoulder, his bowler hat slipping to the side.
Newton had pulled two all-nighters in a row the nights before working on another blueprint for an upgrade for his airship, specifically for the furnaces so they would stop overheating; no one could blame him for being so tired, Marlon thought to himself.

The TV was blaring in the silence of the room, and it was really the only light source apart from the small crooked window on the opposite wall.

Marlon didn't dare to even jerk his head or search for a different movie in case he unintentionally woke up his sleeping boyfriend.

So he decided the best thing to do is simply sit in utter silence watching the movie he put on.

*

Newton opened his eyes abruptly, looking around the in dark.

He was back in this place.

A seemingly empty void surrounded him, small eyes surfaced from the dark.

This was new..

Golden yellow, aqua green and purplish pink eyes to be specific; and they all stared right at him, blinking every once in a while. The pupils shrinking at the sight of him.

This made everything more terrifying than it should be.

"It's all your fault"
An eerie voice echoed in the blank void, the voice was almost like a choir, like three, distorted voices speaking at once.

Newton shuddered, his gloved hands shaking. He knew that voice...

He knew it all too well.

He blinked back angry and terrified tears, before yelling back with a harsh voice,

"You're not real! You're locked away.. in that cursed tea tin in Stitchem.. you're NOT REAL!"
Newton was trying not to start sobbing there and then, he tried to blink back the tears welling up once more.

The 'Titans' didn't seem to care, or simply decided not to listen to Newtons pleads. Instead it started repeating the words louder. And louder. And louder.

"ITS ALL YOUR FAULT. EVERYTHING IS. YOU'VE ONLY GOT YOURSELF TO BLAME."
The Titans voices continued to chant deafeningly, their voices grew louder and more glitched with every uttered word; now they were circling Newton, who was shaking with fear at this point.

Newton tried to cover his non existent ears, but the chanting continued.
More eyes appeared around the vast void, until the place was a living hellish nightmare for anyone with ommetaphobia.

Newton couldn't take it anymore. He started sobbing, clutching his head he fell to the ground.
He was finding it hard to breathe, his hands were quivering of fear. He tried taking deep breaths to calm down but it didn't work, he continued crying of terror uncontrollably.
Through the sobbing and tears he managed to speak up one thing,

"I already said it, so many times. I'm sorry.. I didn't mean to, I-I thought I was doing something good.."

*

Marlon heard gentle sobs and abruptly his eyes widened. He turned down the volume to check and just like he thought, it wasn't coming from the TV.

He slowly turned his head to look at Newton, and saw the lightbulb hugging himself protectively while crying softly, his hands practically gripping into his woollen skin.
He was mumbling something to himself, but Marlon couldn't quite make out what it was he was saying.

"..oh crap, uh.." Marlon whispered to himself, trying to figure out how to calm his lover when he didn't even know what was wrong.

He slowly started to wrap his arms around Newton protectively, letting him sob into Marlons shoulder.

That's when Marlon was able to just about make out what Newton was mumbling about in his sleep.

"..I'm sorry.. I thought I was doing something good..."
The lightbulb could be heard sobbing, his face wet with tears.

Marlon whispered back softly, resting his tin can head on Newtons, "You apologise too much, Newty; none of what is your fault, it wasn't in the script.. "

He laughed quietly at his own movie refrence, before turning his head to look at Newton again.
He had calmed down a bit.
Sure he still had several tears running down his face, but he wasn't fully crying and muttering to himself anymore.

Marlon said once more,
"It's not your fault, Newty, it's not your fault..", before turning his head back to the now quietened TV; still hugging Newton reassuringly.
