The flight to the Hunter's Exam was long, but eventually, they arrived. The group of four stood in the center of the city, staring in awe at the large, glass building that hovered over them. "It makes sense that the Hunter's Exam would be in such a ritzy place as this..." Leorio murmured. Gon nodded silently, mouth agape. Aeron was just the same; neither of these kids had seen a building this large in their life before. Kurapika bit back a smile.
"C'mon you four, follow me. The exam happens in here."
The Kiriko disguised as the husband pointed. In his line of sight was what no one expected - an old, almost run-down looking restaurant. "...Eh?" Aeron spoke aloud. He was absolutely confused, but followed the Kiriko without hesitation, the rest of the group doing the same. The chef bid a warm welcome, and the Kiriko guide said some complicated meal Aeron didn't catch. Details like that bored him.
"Alright, this is where I leave you all. Good luck on the exam!" The Kiriko smiled and waved as he left the building, and the four waved back. "Follow me." A waiter led the group to a rather large back room, with a large table and four chairs. They sat down.
"Good luck; you're gonna need it."
And then, the walls - well, doors - slid shut. The room was silent. "...I was kind of hoping for something to eat..." Aeron mumbled unhappily. Him and Gon had crestfallen looks at the lack of food they had not received. Of course, Kurapika and Leorio deadpanned at the two boys. Could they really be this naïve? "I guess we wait, now..." Aeron pulled on the hood of his jacket and simply zoned out. In those few minutes, an argument between Leorio and Kurapika (something about adventures and money, he didn't care to listen) sounded like static in his ears, and his vision blurred. It was almost like the boy was dead to the world.
The ding of the elevator snapped him out of his stupor.
"O-Oi!" The golden-eyed boy jumped in surprise and clung to the nearest person: Gon. He giggled and pat the shorter boy on the head. "It's okay Aeron, it was just the elevator. Don't worry!" He said, smiling. Aeron nodded and blushed with embarrassment.
"Let's go... I feel dumb now."
"Hey, hey, don't say that! You were just surprised!"
"...I'm stupid..."
The doom and gloom hovering around the galaxy-themed boy only caused Leorio and Kurapika to shift away from him slightly. Of course, the group received their buttons, the glaring number 406 standing out among Aeron's clothes. "I'm gonna go sit down and eat something. Call me if you need me." He stated. Aeron didn't wait for an answer as he slid down the nearest wall and began digging around in his bag for his hidden stash of chocolate covered biscuits. "Where did I put them...? Mm, it's so hard to think when you're hungry..." A loud grumble came from the boy's stomach, and he let out a soft groan and frowned.
"I should bet money on whether or not we'll get food during this exam... Oh! Here they are!"
The black-haired boy held the bag close to his chest and practically ripped it open. He shoved a chocolate biscuit in his mouth. "Mm... I missed you so, chocolate biscuits." The boy laughed to himself and continued to munch on his snack. However, just as he was about to place another biscuit into his mouth, it was snatched right out of his hand and left him frozen in surprise.
"Wow, these are pretty good."
Above him was a male that seemed to be around his age; snowy white hair, a skateboard, and bright blue eyes. Aeron couldn't stop staring at them. "H-Hey, that was mine..." He stuttered nervously. Damn it, why did he have to get nervous around a kid his own age? He cursed at himself internally as the boy spoke up. "Sorry. They looked good." His explanation was short and to the point. Aeron couldn't help but blink and deadpan at how simple it was. The boy in front of him held out his hand, blank expression set onto his features.
