JIMIN

"Good game, Jimin." Trevor
said, giving Jimin a friendly
slap on the ass as they
walked across the locker
room to the showers.

"You were everywhere I
looked tonight."

As quarterback, Trevor
depended on Jimin''s skill to complete plays and he'd
made no secret of the fact
that he felt like Jimin had
been slacking lately.

But he'd at least managed to
pull it together for the game.

He'd failed miserably at trying
to get Jungkook out of his
mind but after nearly two
weeks of crying and feeling
sorry for himself, Jimin knew
he was going to have to
suck it up and move on.

Jungkook wasn't coming
back.

"Thanks Trev." He said, giving
a half-smile.

The game had stretched into overtime but Jimin had been grateful for the chance to burn through some of his feelings
and to take out some of the
hurt and confusion he'd been feeling on every man who had tried to break through the defensive line.

"I was afraid for while that
your tutor was starting to rub
off on you, if you know what I mean." Trevor laughed, and nudged Jimin with his elbow.

Wait, what?

He stopped in the middle of
the locker room, trying to
resist the urge to punch
the quarterback right in
his loud mouth.

What the fuck had he
just said?

"No." He said, his voice low
and gravelly as he tried to restrain himself.

"I don't know what you
mean, Trev."

"You know." Trevor said, his
grin faltering.

"It just seemed like you
might be going a little soft."

He flicked his wrist in Jimin's direction and even though
he hadn't come right out
and said it, there was no mistaking his meaning.

"Maybe I have." Jimin said
still not moving from his place
in the middle of the room.

By now, some of the other
guys had taken notice of the conversation and he was
aware of more and more eyes focusing on him as the
silence that stretched out between him and Trevor
lasted for several more
seconds.

"Hey no offense, man." Trevor shrugged, giving him a look
that suggested he was blowing things way out of proportion.

"I was just messing with
you but maybe I touched a nerve..."

He had touched a nerve, in
fact.

And maybe Jimin was blowing things out of proportion.

But the hole Jungkook had
left in his heart was still too
big, the wound too fresh,
for Jimin to just let Trevor's
little dig go unanswered.

"It's no problem." He said.

"But just so you know, maybe
he did rub off on me a little."

"He at least has the balls to
be honest about who he is,
which is something I could
never do. Until now."

Trevor gave him a puzzled
look and Jimin could
definitely feel more sets
of eyes on him as he spoke.

But he didn't care.

And actually, the more
people who saw and heard
what he was about to say,
the better.

"Yeah." Jimin said, continuing.

"I like guys."

"I like Jungkook."

"And if I'm damn lucky, he'll
take me back after I was
dumb enough to let him go."

"Dumb enough to give two
shits about what you guys
might think about me."

For a moment, nobody
moved.

Nobody spoke.

Nobody even took a breath.

"Okay, man." Trevor said, walking back to where he
was standing to give him
a half-embrace.

As if he'd just announced that
he was buying a round of
beers later, rather than
the fact that he was gay.

"For a second there, I thought you were gonna tell us something important."

Jimin blinked.

And then he laughed.

Harder and louder than he'd laughed in weeks.

He could feel the tension
ease in the room, as some of
the other guys chuckled but mostly just went back to
what they'd been doing.

Maybe they really didn't care
as much as Jimin had
thought they might.

Or maybe they were just
really good at hiding it.

Whichever the case, Jimin
didn't really care.

He'd felt good about saying
it out loud, in front of the
people who knew him better
than his own family and
whether they ended up being
as cool about the news as
they'd initially seemed
didn't matter so much.

Because, after half of his life spent lying, denying, and covering up who he really
was, he finally felt free.

Like he could breathe.

And that only left one more
thing for him to do.
