The twins looked at each other, stunned. "I..." Souta mumbled as he's fading away. Ahmya looked at Souta's face, perplexed. Ahmya looked at her brother, tears rolling down her eyes. "We are going to really die now..." Ahmya said to Souta, baffled by the idea of it. I looked at Ahmya's face. It was full of fear, she was scared to die. "Souta..." Ahmya called out. Souta looked at her.
"What is it, Ahmya?" Souta growled. Ahmya looked at Souta's face, full of anger. But I have a feeling that his anger wasn't only because of their loss. Ahmya stared down, more tears rolling down her face again.
"I'm sorry that I couldn't... protect you the way you protected me" Ahmya said. Souta stared at Ahmya eye to eye. Ahmya's body crumbled faster than Souta's. Souta then started sobbing, as Ahmya faded away.
"NO! THIS WASN'T SUPPOSED TO TURN OUT THIS WAY!" Souta cried out trying to move to Ahmya with most of his body crumbled away. "Ahmya! Don't die on me, please! I'm sorry I messed up...I-"
"No...there's no need to be sorry. We'll try better next time, big brother..."
"Thank you for being my brother, Souta," Ahmya said. She had a big smile on her face as she disintegrated into nothing.
"NO! AHMYA...DON'T LEAVE ME HERE!" Souta yelled as tears rolled down his face. "Don't...leave me. Please..." Souta cried out. I couldn't help but pity them. It was horrible to look at all of this. I knew I had to do it. I had no other choice. If I couldn't stop them...who knows what they would do next?
I stepped towards Souta; his body almost fully disintegrated. "You...you're both going to die. But the bond you two have is strong. I highly doubt that you two wouldn't see each other again."
"What are you implying?" Souta said to me. I looked at Souta, only having his head left. "You two are going to face your consequences together. So please...don't lose hope now that you'll lose her just because you both are dying. After all..."
I paused and looked at him, tearing up. "Both of you are dying together. And you'll always have her by your side in the afterlife."
Souta's face was relaxed, even with the number of tears he shed. Eventually, he faded away, just like his sister.
I sighed. I took one last glance at the place where Ahmya and Souta died, then I ran to find any other monsters or people around.
- AHMYA'S POV! -
No punishment in this world is worse than realizing that you failed to protect the one person you look up to the most.
Souta was someone...important to me. The most important person in my life. He felt like my real parents, but even better. That's how much I love him. Even if we are twins, he felt like my big brother. He is the best brother in the world, and he'll always be.
Before being a monster, me and Souta were born 6 decades ago. Even though my mom and dad loved both of us, they were pretty surprised to see how we were both connected to each other. But every day... There was bad news where we lived. There was too much crime activity happening, so much that we weren't allowed to go out a lot, only on days where there was school, we had to attend.
Although our parents loved us, they argued a lot because of the crime activity. Our mother argued a lot about our safety and how we shouldn't go out that often, but our dad argued on how we were never having fun and we should have a shot at just being kids.
One day, Souta and I were walking back from school. We opened the door to find that our parents were gone. They left a note for us.
"Souta? Can I read it? Can I?" I asked eagerly. Souta smiled. "Yeah sure. But first let me read the note in my head."
I looked at him scanning the paper. Souta's smile faded so quickly. He looked at me. "You can read it now...but it isn't good news at all."
The letter read.
"Ahmya and Souta,
We both are so sorry, but we have to leave. It doesn't have to do with you, it's just because of some other things you shouldn't worry about right now. It's out of our control. I don't think you're able to ever see us again. But just know that we both love you so much, and we're so sorry.
Love, ..."
The writing was smudged with teardrops, it was written in ink. Love...what kind of love was this?
We spent the next few months in an adoption center, and it was so horrible there. There were about 27 kids in the adoption center, including me and Souta. I was taught how to cook, clean, iron, and provide. I often got tasks to clean the whole house. The caretakers of the adoption centers were horrible and mean. And oftentimes, I cried a lot with my brother. It was horrible there.
However, my brother got it so much worse than I. The caretakers hated him. He used to get beaten if he couldn't complete something well, and I often had to teach him. And it was the stupid caretaker's fault. The owner we had was a tall man, he was 31. He beat my brother so badly that I had to rush to patch him up. I hated the owner so much; he made my blood boil.
But my brother was always stronger than I. He could take multiple beatings and not cry. He could lift up heavy things the most out of everyone. I admired him but pitied him because I was really his only friend. His best friend.
One day, I had enough. I convinced Souta to run away with me. We really didn't have any high hopes, we had a mental state that we shouldn't have at 11. We should have been imagining that we were going to escape and become a princess and prince rather than praying to God everyday as we planned.
Souta said that he feels like he grew up way too fast. Like his childhood was taken away from him even though he's 11. How he is depended on by every adult. I still don't understand what he means by that.
The night we escaped; we went to the woods. Souta heard shouting from the owner and many caretakers looking for us. I was holding my favorite stuffed animal; it was a bunny. Souta held on to my hand tight as we ran through the night. I remember bumping into a girl...but I can't quite remember who she was. I only remember that she had 6 arms, and her skin was blue, and her hair was curly. And most of all, she was a monster, and she was ranked "10." She was so powerful, more powerful than us.
We were scared because we were about to get caught. "...I pity you two. I can help you if you accept my offer" she whispered to us. We both nodded our heads because we were desperate.
Seconds later, the caretakers and the owners were dead. There was blood everywhere. Their faces were purple and pale, and their eyes rolled to their heads. "This might hurt a little, but I'm going to transfer my blood to both of you."
The next thing I knew, we were both monsters. And I had my fun. I killed many people, day and night. In the shining sun and moon, all I did was disguise and slaughter. I remember this one girl...I cannot recall her name. But her smile was bigger than the sun, it always was. I manipulated her into killing her whole family. It was one mom, one dad, and one little sister. She thought that I was a whole...guardian or something. But she stood out to me the most. She was the kindest to me, even when I was a monster. She's an idiot for that because why did she decide to trust me, out of all people? But I have a positive feeling towards her...I cannot word it. Whatever, she's probably still in a psych ward right now. They locked her up, she was so close to even getting away with it too, if only she ran fast enough.
I hate humans with a passion. They all live with amazing lives. They are all probably happy. Kids my age right now are probably so loved right now. I'm jealous because of that. I hate them so much. WHY CAN'T I HAVE THE LIFE LIKE THEY HAD?! But the humans I hate the most are adults. I despise adults. They never listen. They all cause so much pain but walk Scott free. I hate them. They deserve to die.
But I can't believe me, and Souta died. And not just that, we lost to a freshman student in elemental high, who barely has any experience right now.
...Souta, I miss you. I'm sorry I couldn't keep us from dying. It hurts more than the hell we are in right now. It hurts so bad, more than the fire burning me.
"Ahmya! Where are you?" A voice called out. I looked around. Then I saw him. I saw Souta.
"Wait up!" Souta was running towards me, then stopped when he saw the trail of fire. "Souta! Don't go in the trail of fire. You're going to get hurt!" I yelled at him. "I don't care! I want to be with you right now, even in hell. You promised that we're going to be together forever! So, I'm going to go through it! No matter what!"
"Souta, NO!" I screamed. Souta yelped loudly as he was running through the trail of fire towards me. I saw the burns in his fight, it was bad. But he cared for me that much. He will run in fire, go through any level of pain for me.
I started crying. "I'm sorry I messed up" I wailed, hugging him tight as the fire started to close in on us. He smiled and hugged me back. "It's not your fault."
The fire closes in, burning us. But we were still together.
-OUT OF POV-
Meanwhile, Goru, Min-Su and Mitsuki kept fighting the 3. Min-Su collapsed mid-way. "I can't control it any longer," Min-Su said to Mitsuki and Goru. "This is the best I can do. I managed to trap the eyeless monster. He can't get out; I saw a gem on him exposed so the damage was done."
Goru looked at Mitsuki. "Tag team them?" Mitsuki looked at the monsters left to deal with. "Finish off the eyeless one, then join me."Goru nodded. She pointed her arrow to the eyeless monster stuck on a pile of rocks crushing him. "I have to have a good shot on this, I cannot charge this attack so much...what if I cannot control it?" Goru thought. Goru fired a charged shot. The pink beamed arrow fired at the eyeless monster. It hit the gem on his forehead and exploded the eyeless monster's head. Blood splattered on the rocks and on the floor. The monster began to disintegrate, and eventually faded away to nothing.
"That's one down!" Goru yelled. The remaining monsters glared. The deformed one had a gem on the back of his head, diving towards Goru. Goru dodged and pinned the monster to the ground. Mitsuki ran to the monster Goru pinned down. The deformed monster opened his mouth to release another attack. "C'mon..." Goru thought to herself, hoping that he doesn't try something else. Mitsuki kept dodging the long-haired monster's attacks, trying to reach the monster in time. Eventually she got to him and sliced his gem several times on the back of his head. Flowers appeared on the last hit and broke the gem, leaving a bloody hole on the back of the monster's head. The deformed monster dropped on the ground and disintegrated on the ground.
The last monster was the long-haired monster standing. "You may have gotten them, but you won't kill me. Mitsuki glared at the monster in disgust. "Oh, shut up!" Mitsuki said, running towards him. Goru ambushed the long hair monster and blasted him to the ground, decapitating his head. She kept on blasting beams around the monster to distract him. The monster's gem was out already, on his neck. Mitsuki ran to the monster to receive the final blow. "You're dying here, right now!" Mitsuki yelled. The monster's regeneration slowed down, but he didn't give up just yet. The monster blindly grabbed Mitsuki and pinned her down. Mitsuki struggled to get out of his grasp. "Get the fuck off me!" Mitsuki yelled. Goru was aiming an arrow at the monster's neck. "You're going to die here," the long hair monster said with a creepy smile. A pink-beamed arrow fired and hit the monster's neck. The gem broke, showing the monster's neck impaled with an arrow. The monster let go of Mitsuki and dropped to the ground, disintegrating to nothingness.
Once all the monsters were gone, Min-Su stood, wobbling a little, but was still standing. "Whew, the monsters are gone now. I still feel dizzy after all of that. And my face isn't doing so well anymore now that the paralyzation wore off."
"Ouch," Goru said after looking at Min-Su's face. Mitsuki made a "that must've hurt so bad" face. "We're gonna have to take you to the nurse after this- "
"Nah, it's fine," Min-Su said. "I'll figure it out soon, but thanks!" "You sure? Cause I think you should get fixed up" Mitsuki said in retaliation. "Oh yeah, she could heal herself soon. She has healing powers" Goru said.
Mitsuki sighed. "Just be careful," Mitsuki said to Min-Su. Min-Su nodded. "Alright, let's find those boys."
Meanwhile, Astrid was killing monsters with Yudesai, Hito, Azaiah, Alvah, Akiro, Saymoya, and Eiko-R1. The group stopped after seeing that all of the monsters were dead. They spotted 2 boys being chased by 3 monsters. "Shit" Akiro mumbled. "Akiro motioned for Azaiah to come with him to eliminate them. Akiro stabbed one monster with his spear and impaled the other one. Azaiah crushed the last monster by summoning a huge rock. The 2 boys looked at Akiro and Azaiah in fear. It was Jiro and Hiro! "Where are your parents?" Akiro asked them.
.
He saw Mitsuki, Min-Su, and Goru coming towards them. "They're with their older cousin," Mitsuki said to Akiro. "Oh," Akiro said. He looked shaken up, as if he didn't know what to say. "Well, you know where she is?" Akiro asked. Mitsuki smirked. "If I know who they're with, of course I'm gonna know where they are, idiot!" Mitsuki responded. Akiro looked away. "Alright, let's go," Akiro said. Mitsuki smiled a bit but looked away. She motioned Goru and Min-Su to come. Goru and Min-Su exchanged looks and followed Mitsuki. Yudesai, Eiko, and Hito looked and waved at the group that just arrived. "Ah great, the idiots are also here" Mitsuki said as she rolled her eyes.
Mitsuki and Akiro walked together as Azaiah, Goru, and Min-Su followed. Yudesai stuck his tongue out at Mitsuki. "Anywho, let's just go to where those kids' guardians are," Hito said. Alvah and Astrid nodded. "Mitsuki, lead the way. Yudesai and Eiko are going to keep an eye on the kids" Astrid said. "Wanna see how well they do with that" Alvah mumbled. "Hey!" Yudesai shot back. Mitsuki snickered, covering her mouth as she did because she was trying to be more professional. "Jiro, you hear that?" Hiro whispered to Jiro. "We're almost close to Hemi!" Jiro smiled. "Maybe then we can escape more easily," Jiro whispered back, trying to restrain himself from jumping in excitement. Yudesai held Hiro's hand and Eiko held Jiro's hand.
The stars twinkled on a dark night. Astrid looked up at the sky, witnessing them before the group took off. Astrid smiled. "This is a good sign. We are off to a good start."
