"What was that apology for back at the game, Captain?", you walk beside Law as you two make your way to your compartments together, searching for some peace and quiet from peering eyes before going to bed. The surgeon huffs, shrugging at you: "What do you think it was for? I know there's a brain in there, so use it." Giving you a soft flick with his slender fingers against your forehead, he smirks at you slyly.

You do know it's for the incident at the infirmary, but there was a spark of hope you'd hear him say it. That would be rather uncommon for him, for he never likes to repeat himself. It was worth a try. Admitting your defeat you let your head droop and giggle to yourself.

You have to say, him staying rational and composed with you gives you a feeling of security and he keeps you on the ground of reality. That's exactly what intimidates and honestly excites you at the same time. With a soft hum you simper at him while intertwining his free hand with yours: "To respond to your apology, I think your lips made up for it. But to be honest with you, I thought you were disgusted by me..."

His eyes wander down to your linked hands, wondering if he accidently used 'Countershock' the moment your skin touched his, leaving him in unsettlement. Odd, he could've sworn there was a short circuit jolting through his arm. It reminds him of the time, where the both of you headed back from the 'kitten rescue' at the City isle.

Reaching the Captain's compartment, you see how his facial expression changes from poised to confuddled within less than a second. That comment you just made lets him sound off a little annoyed click of his tongue, but his demeanor stays warm and concordant, if not slightly flushed: "Never relate the word 'disgusting' with yourself, am I clear?" You feel how his hand squeezes yours tightly by that statement. Giving him a shy nod, you agree to him.

Law clears his throat: "Give me a moment." Opening the door to his compartment you stay in the corridor, trying to supress your ever growing smile. As you lean against the doorframe, you see him coming back with a white and black spotted object in hands. It's his old hat. "Y-your-" - "I want you to take it while I'm gone. It should serve as a pledge, that I will return unharmed and we shall meet in Zou again."

Taken aback you carefully take it into your hands and let your fingers glide through it's fluffy texture. So many memories flash before you by seeing this simple accessory. It's almost iconic, you can't imagine him without it. Shy you look up at him: "May I put it on?" Replying in a mused and subtle nod, his storm grey orbs glisten at you in the dim light.

Thus you put on that legendary piece of spotted fabric onto your head and feel how you're chest fills with pride, yet a hint of sadness makes itself vacant deep inside of you, but you deftly push that aside. This is not the time to be a cry baby that you have been lately. There were enough tears shed.
