Chapter 11

Aaliyah new bedroom ^

I was asleep when I began hearing strange sounds. My room was completely dark the only light was coming from the moon outside. The sounds wouldn't stop so I opened my eyes to see a black figure sitting in my chair that's in the corner. I quickly reached over to turn my lamp on that sat on my bedside table. When the light came on it revealed Jack sitting there putting a silencer on a gun covered in blood. My heart began beating out of my chest. We sat in silence until he broke it ...

"You know what I hate" Jack said screwing on the silencer.

"Wwwhat.." I said in a scared tone stuttering

"I hate when I be nice to people and they take me for granted especially when I gave specific orders on how to stay on my good side" he said now standing up pacing the floor with the gun in his hand.

"But what really makes me upset is when people steal from me and violate my privacy" he said standing at the ending of the bed with his hands crossed infront of him.

"So with that being said I know you got something that belongs to me and I want it back." He said holding out his left hand since the gun was in his right . I quickly reached under the pillow to grab the key and place it in his hand. After Jack walked out I turned the light off and cried myself to sleep

Next day

Jack

I was headed to the barbershop which was on the north side of Baton Rouge. Only thing going through my head was what the fuck I'm going to do with Aaliyah she a cool chick and all but her going through my shit definitely rubbed me the wrong way and don't know why I thought I could trust her to be in my shit alone . I hopped out and walked in when I was greeted by all the older men who been coming to the barbershop for years like me. I grew up in this barbershop, the owner Mr. Jim practically raised me. After my pops went to jail when I was 13 and my mom became a alcoholic I was in the streets heavy. Working at the barbershop kept me out of trouble. But somehow I always found myself in it...

"Ayo jim can you hook ya son up real quick" I said with my hands up.

"Yeah come on" he said patting his chair for me to sit down.

I made my way over to his chair and sat down so he could place the cape around my neck and give me a line up.  "I missed you son, what been going on these past days" Jim said cleaning his tools.

"Nothing really just working on making more money and purchasing more properties, you know same old stuff" I said.

"You got a girlfriend yet?" Jim asked while pausing.

"Naw pops, I'm chasing my money right now I don't have time to deal with a female right now" I said letting out a laugh

"You know I said the same thing when I was about your age, girls require to much attention and energy and other thing blah blah but little did I know putting all that attention and energy into her would keep me out trouble" Jim said

My thoughts began to wonder if Jim was telling the truth. But my trust won't let anyone get that close to me. That's why I keep everyone at a distance. The only person who basically knows me is Ms.Vivian because she treats me like the son she never had and the mother I always wanted. After I was done I slid Jim a $100 dollar bill and left. When I got inside my car I received a text from Ms. Vivian.

Text from Ms.Vivian👩‍👦: Miles can you pick Aaliyah up from school? I got caught up at the doctors office and won't be able to make it in time.

I replied back to Ms.Vivian text and let her know I'll pick her up. Only because I was on that side of town anyway.

Aaliyah

The school day was finished and I couldn't be more happier. Our teachers was preparing us for finals coming up so we had a lot of work to do. I was walking outside when I saw Kira standing by the gate waiting for me. The past few days I told Kira everything about me and Jack. Kira didn't like the fact I was living with Jack and told me I was better living with Xavier but the truth is I couldn't stand living with Xavier some days would be peaceful and other days he would have a house full of people he barely know and I didn't like that. Living with Jack it was peaceful and also lonely. Especially since he found out I went in his office and took something.

"Hey girl" I said causing her to look up from her phone.

"Hey." She sounded sad.

"What's wrong"

"Me and Winston got into again and this time he broke my phone" Kira said showing me her broken iPhone.

I hated Winston he was so mean and abusive towards Kira and she allowed it. Whenever he doesn't get his way , he gets angry and takes it out on her. One time Kira came to school with a black eye and claimed she ran into a cabinet but I knew it was Winston.

"Maybe you should just leave him" I said

Kira looked up at me with so much rage.

"Why would I leave him?! He going through something right now and I'm going to be by his side to make sure he gets through it. You really came over here to try to tell me what to do when your living with a well known drug dealer who got you under surveillance 24 hours of the day and feel on you when he wants then goes back to ignoring you like your daddy in jail, but wanna try to tell me to leave Winston when you live with somebody who kills people." Kira said angrily before walking off and hopping on the bus.

I stood there in shock trying to take In everything Kira just said. I couldn't believe she would scoop that low to hurt me over someone she been dating less than a year. Hot tears started running down my face and I quickly wiped them away when I saw Jack all black Mercedes pull up. I knew it was him because all his cars are matte black with tinted windows. No one else car looks like that. I was confused on why he was here then I remembered ms. Vivian said he was picking me up from school.

"Great."I said to myself in disbelief

I wasn't ready to have a confrontation with Jack just yet especially since it just happened. I don't know what to say hopefully the car ride would be silent all the way home.
