"...I'd appreciate it you don't invite yourself into my house."

He finally spoke in a soft mumble, pulling his wrist away from her grasp. His expression looked indifferent except from the soft baby pink tint on his face.

"I apologize!"

Emma takes a step back, placing her hand back on the handle of her basket. Her serene smile is still there, but there was a hint of embarrassment, too.

Aesop shook his head. He closed the door gently in front of her. Emma is just surprised that he didn't slam the door on her face. Maybe she should try again another day... and be more gentle with her approach.

There is something going on with this regular, she thought to herself as she does the walk of shame back to her shop after this clear failure of an approach.

Arriving at her shop she greets her scarecrow, the scarecrow noticed her soggy personality today as she sat next to him at the desk of the shop. She leans back and started to talk to the scarecrow about her worries, this comforted her a bit.
Emma just couldn't give up right now, she needs to find out the truth. Yeah this might be nosey behavior, what if he just needed some talking and warming up to? Maybe he's just paranoid because of the bizarre disappearances in the neighborhood.

She must keep him company, she remembers reading that one book about true crime and serial killers are more likely to target people who seem like easy prey...

"Emma, what are you thinking? He's not easy prey that's really rude-"

She rambled to herself, thinking of a good justification for her action.

The gentle jingle of the bells on top of the glass door made her jolt, it's just another customer.. she smiled at them and acted like she was watering the small succulent on her desk.

The rest of the day went as normal, her thoughts kept her awake by a little past her bedtime.
