Hunter's POV

"Lucas! Lucas, wake up!" the frightened voice of my brother Emmanuel woke me from my sleep. When I opened my eyes, in front of me were his scared blue eyes and a face covered in tears.

"Um, what's going on?" I asked getting up from the bed.

"She's gone again." He said looking through our bedroom door.

"Who disappeared again? Calm down, I don't understand anything." I tried to calm him down, but I didn't understand what was happening either.

"Mother, Lucas. Mother disappeared again." He replied looking at me broken.

Then all the memories started coming to me. The noise in the corridor, Emmanuel's cry and Max Taylor's words.

"Your mother left you."

When I realized what was happening, I started running towards the corridor as fast as my legs could carry me. However, when I ran to the room where all the people who worked for our family were normally there, no one was there. I couldn't ask anyone for help.

Turning to face Emmanuel, there was a man in his early twenties standing in front of me who looked like a more grown up version of my brother.

"You couldn't save her again. Just like that girl." He said coldly and pointed with his finger towards the large window at the end of the corridor.

After his words I ran to the window and instead of my mother's black hair I saw wavy red hair.

At the moment when the car started speeding away from the yard where I lived, the face I saw and the tears on the face of the girl who looked at me in fear brought me to my knees.

"Hunter! Hunter don't leave me!"

Isabella's scream rang in my ears. When I turned to this grown-up Emmanuel, he was just staring blankly at the window.

"You left her alone too."

He sounded sharp and turned to me and his face was full of scars and bruises.

"Like me."

I woke up suddenly and tried to calm my rapid breathing. It was all just a dream.

A dream that made me wet to the skin and barely able to calm my breathing.

A dream that reminded me of a night I'm trying to forget.

A dream that repeats itself almost every night.

Except this time it was worse, more difficult.

Because of Isabella's crying face and calls for help, and I, like that night, watched helplessly at the red vehicle driving away and taking away the person I cared about.

One thing that remained the same in the dream was the fact that I could not see who was behind everything that happened or who was driving the vehicle.

Getting out of bed, I went to the bathroom and washed myself with cold water to calm myself down. Seeing the off light on the bedside table, I knew I fell asleep and didn't have time to leave it on.

The only nights I was able to sleep somewhat normally were the nights I left the light on.

A habit I did as a child to make Emmanuel feel safe. However, I used to fall asleep mostly from fatigue and then the nightmares would repeat themselves.

When I realized there was no way I was going to fall asleep again, I turned on my computer and started checking my inbox.

To my surprise, I found an email from Henry. When I opened the message and started to read it, I felt a chill running down my spine and anger slowly awakening in me.
