Wakanda was forgotten left to be cared for by the house elfs.
But she was extremely smart and powerful, she could do thingd that grown up wizards could only dream of.
One day she had enough of everything and decided to leave.
Now mind you Wakanda was older than Harry by 9 mins so she is the true heir to the Potter family.

She's not a Potter.

nevertheless she was adopted so she decided to use that power to her advantage.
