You had tried to nap and rest but you had simply tossed and turned in the warm sheets unable to become comfortable. Your hair was half dry now and your mind was still throwing around different possible worries and fears. You felt better after your cry in the shower, but the sickness of this place was still nauseating you and you couldn't shake a feeling of loneliness and vulnerability that had stuck with you.
You hear a few quiet knocks on the door in between the rooms and it slowly opens. Rex pokes his head through before entering and closing it behind him. You look up from your pillow and feel happy to see him but also embarrassed that he will witness you in this state especially compared to your senate attire.
Rex walked over and sat down on the edge of the bed, your eyes following him the whole way. You can feel his weight as he sits down and you sit up more, wrapping the blankets around you to keep yourself warm but also to keep you covered. When you had gotten into bed you had left your modesty robe in the bathroom. You were covered, but you felt vulnerable enough emotionally that this blanket provided you with security.
"How was today?" Rex asked, his voice gravely as usual but with an added tone of compassion. It wasn't something everyone would pick out, but you had noticed that the Clone Captains you had talked to all had their 'charismatic' voice which was a gentler tone than usual. Definitely not something they picked up in the field. Rex felt much more gentle and empathetic then Hunters, no doubt because he has vastly more experience.
You squeeze the blankets tight around you "it was okay" you reply "Another long boring hearing, and brunch was ... interesting".
Rex could see a gleam in your eyes and asked "Did you want to talk on the balcony?"
"I don't have my robe," you reply.
"Just take a blanket" Rex suggested, standing back up.
You separate one of the blankets you were cuddled under from the others and wrap it around your shoulders before standing up. Wrapped around it comes down to just below your knees and you follow Rex outside.
The temperature isn't cold outside, and there is no breeze traveling through the cityscape today. Since it is evening the sun is on its way to setting in another hour or so and there is plenty of traffic around the distant skylines. You pull the blanket closer to your shoulders and for a moment you and Rex just stand there.
"Why did you want to talk out here?" you ask, realizing you had just gotten up and followed him without questioning why.
"The exterior walls are thicker and these glass doors are reinforced for the noise to keep the inside quiet. You can tell me what happened out here without anyone listening" Rex replied, stepping closer to you.
You thought Rex might go in for a hug but you didn't want him to, so you turned to face him and confronted him. "Why did you tell them Rex?" you ask with a harsh accusing tone to your voice.
Rex hadn't expected you to get angry, even though he could see you were distant and withdrawn the moment he had walked in. His surprise expression only made you more upset, "I was terrified they had figured it out all on their own... that someone... ANYONE else would know about me".
Rex recovered but remained silent as you took a step towards him and pointed at him poking him in the chest. "You could have cost me my LIFE Rex. It is a death sentence to be associated with the Jedi. If ANYONE finds out, they will haul me off into the depths of darkness" you felt your emotions start to rise into your throat as you continued to tell him off "You could have jeopardized the entire mission, you could have gotten ALL OF US caught". Tears started to come to your eyes " and they still can. The more people that know the greater the risk! Even you knowing is one person too many!".
