We are not as original, unique, different, special, or whatever other word there is, as we think we are! It's tragic, painful and discouraging to hear, however it is the truth.

Welcome and thank you for taking the time to read my book of prompts.

You may wake up from a mind-blowing dream that inspires you and your ancestors to pick up a pen and write, only to find out 750 people have already written a novel (or 10) on the exact same dream! It's almost like they all hovered over you in your slumber and STOLE YOUR DREAM!

And there you go, moving away from that idea you were convinced was your own and falling into a self-made pit of despair. However, you forget that you can still use the idea, you don't have to throw the idea away just because someone else used it.

Even if you and the 750 people have the same idea, you can't all write it in the same way. Why? Because, you are not the same person! Yes, like I said you are not as original or special as you think. Thus, you might still have similarities in writing style, etc, with complete strangers. As long as you don't plagiarise, then it's completely okay.

On the other hand, the idea might not even be yours. You could have found it on the internet somewhere, on some random site, or a random book like this one, on some random book app. But, does that mean you should feel shame or be insecure about your writing because it isn't "original"? No!

Using prompts isn't cheating nor stealing (useless you don't give credit where it's due). Prompts are created to help writers get out of slumps, even prevent slumps. They are there for your usage.

Coincidences do exist. Because, humans interact with one another physically and through different medias, we are constantly sharing and creating ideas amongst ourselves. Therefore, it's no surprise that there can be overlaps in plots and characters, etc. At times, you might have an idea that is available as a prompt somewhere else. That's okay, too.

Anything and everything can spark something in anyone. Some people like to search and travel for their inspiration; some like to have it given to them with instructions on how to use the inspiration.

So, feel free to enjoy my book of prompts and share the stories you come up with.

Thank you and once again welcome!
