Important Background Information

Aurora's life revolved around the small town of Forks, Washington, where she had spent every day since she was born. As a child, she had the privilege of being surrounded by knowledge, thanks to her grandmother's ownership of a quaint yet enchanting library. The rows of books that lined the shelves captivated Aurora's young mind, fueling her insatiable thirst for learning. Aurora always had a curiosity for darkness and shadows. She could spend hours watching and playing with her own shadow. No one knew what was so fascinating.

From an early age, Aurora proved to be an exceptionally bright and dedicated student. She approached her studies with determination, seeking to absorb every ounce of information that came her way. Reading became her greatest passion; the stroke of each page turning under her delicate fingers unleashed a magical world that transported her beyond the confines of Forks. The smell of aged paper and the hushed whispers of characters entwined within the text provided solace, comfort, and an escape from reality.

Her intellectual prowess did not go unnoticed within her classroom. Aurora was consistently the standout. With diligence and a hunger for knowledge, she maintained the title of the smartest girl in her class. However, Aurora's path to success was not without its shadows. Tragedy had struck her family when she was just a baby, forever altering the course of her life. One fateful night, as her parents made their way home from their regular Friday date, their lives were cut short.

They decided to take a shortcut and venture down a dimly lit alley on their way home. Little did they know, this decision would lead to a horrifying and tragic turn of events. The following day, a passerby stumbled upon a gruesome scene—their lifeless bodies were discovered, horribly dismembered. The brutal murder left Aurora orphaned at only a few months old, with her grandmother stepping in to provide love and care for her. Aurora was far too young to recall the warmth of their embrace or the sound of their voices, only possessing faint memories through the photographs her caring grandmother shared with her throughout her childhood. Those tender glimpses captured the love and adoration her parents had held for her, forever frozen in time.

Aurora lacked friends since she was often labeled as a smartass, a perception held by nearly everyone she encountered. However, within this seemingly disconnected social backdrop, there existed an exception: the Cullen Family. This group of individuals, with their unconditional love and acceptance, formed a deep bond with Aurora that defied the typical judgments of others.

Just after Aurora's 22nd birthday, her grandmother fell ill. This sudden turn of events left Aurora navigating unfamiliar territory, trying to support her grandmother and simultaneously maintain her own life. As providence would have it, the Cullen Family stepped in during this trying time, providing their support and care.

The arrival of her grandmother's illness made her assume the responsibility of managing the library. She recognized that, in taking on this new role, she could fulfill her desire for intellectual growth while tending to her grandmother's needs as well.

As her grandmother's stroke forced her into a wheelchair, their interactions pivoted to a more intimate setting within the library. The space became a haven where Aurora balanced her professional tasks with providing companionship and comfort to her grandmother. While working, Aurora's grandmother would sit nearby, immersing herself in a book or simply engaging in conversations with Aurora.

Living in such proximity to the library provided Aurora with the opportunity to cater to her grandmother's needs without any hindrances. As she prepared meals for her grandmother, she could easily move through the adjoining door and tend to any library-related matters that required her attention. This seamless transition eliminated the need for Aurora to travel far distances or divide her time between multiple locations.

Sadly, Aurora's grandmother passed away after a few months following her first stroke. She had a second stroke and, after a month in the hospital on a ventilator, she passed away on October 7th. Aurora's grief and loss of her precious grandmother sent her into a deep depression. She stopped tending to the library she cared about so deeply because all she thought about was her grandmother, lying on the floor because her wheelchair was tipped over, almost lifeless from the second and final stroke. That day changed her forever. She remembers every detail vividly: how she cradled her grandmother, how they looked into each other's eyes, the panic but also calmness because, even though her grandmother lost the ability to communicate in any way, she knew her grandmother was scared. So she pretended to be brave and alright, whispering sweet nothings to her until the paramedics got there and took her to the hospital. Grief is such a heartbreaking thing.

After many visits and conversations, the Cullen family finally convinced Aurora to move in. But during the first week of living with them, Aurora figured out their secret, and to say she was freaked out was an understatement. But with time and much explaining and answering of questions, she understood their vampire nature. It wasn't so bad, she thought. She didn't understand why the Cullens didn't just drink from blood bags instead of animal blood. She kept quiet about that though.

Living with the Cullens brought out the old Aurora, the one that everyone thought was lost with the death of her grandmother. She went to therapy and, eventually, after a year of it, she was able to return to the library she loved so much, not without difficulty, of course. She managed, though, and she created new happy memories with the Cullens. She had planned to sell the library with her grandmother and eventually, that's what she did. Her grandmother didn't want her to be cooped up all her life in this town, so she wanted to sell it and travel the world with her granddaughter, but she never got the chance. Now Aurora would be doing it for her. Before Aurora could even think of a place to visit, Alice had a vision. The Volturi were coming. They had sent a guard to check on Renesmee, and so they found out about Aurora. They had one month before they arrived
