Chapter 9

"The only Jules I care to befriend are the kind right over there."Replied Carmen as she shoves Julia,knocks off her glasses and then stomps on them.A large carpet then covers Julia as the rail knocks her in the head."Bluecoats."Sighed Carmen as Gray puts the brain device on her head.She then fights to free herself."Please come back."Stated Gray.But before he knew it Carmen elbows him against the stomach and pushes him against a wall.His laser gun then falls on the floor due to the impact.She then tosses him across the room and drops to her knees,her eyes then widen with memories of Shadowsan from VILE island flash.She then pulls of the device and smashes it.Gray then watches in concern.In a flash back Crackle fires his laser gun on the train.In the present Carmen stands."You sold me out,Gray."Stated Carmen.
"No,I'm just trying to help.Replied Gray as Carmen takes off both her gloves and picks up the laser gun.
"It's fingerprint-activated.It won't work for you.Explained Gray.
"Won't it?"Asked Carmen.She grips the gun and then turns it on.
"Being VILE Faculty has its perks."Replied Carmen as she turns it up to full power and sparks fly.
"You're a dirty traitor,like Shadownsan."Announced Carmen.
"This isn't the real you."Replied Gray.
"Goodbye,Gray.No,wait.You prefer Crackle."Stated Carmen.
"Please,Carmen--"but before he could finish his sentence Carmen zapped him and his body stops moving...Carmen then turns off her laser gun as she pushes off the display case.She then picks up the diamond.Divineaux then staggers to this feet as Carmen charges."No,no,no.No,no,no.No!"Divineaux yells.She then tackles him as they crash through a window,Carmen lands on top of him then gets up and staggers down the street.She grips her head and memories from her life flash.Carmen then looks up and spots Shadowsan while she scowls.He then stands next to a reflecting pool.Carmen then sneers and walks closer."I was hoping you'd show.Come and get it!"Yelled Carmen.
"I did not come here for the gem."Sighed Shadowsan.
"That makes to of us."Carmen states as she drops it in the ground.
"I came here to avenge everything you ever stole from me.My passing grade,my dignity,my father."Carmen commented as she kicks Shadowsan.
"You have been misled.I did not take your father's life."Announced Shadowsand as Carmen lunges and throws several kicks and punches while Shadowsan deflects and spins her out of the way."Please,you are in no condition to fight."Explained Shadownsan.
Carmen then holds up her fist and runs at him but Shadowsan is able to dodge her punches but once she kicked she got him.Then eventually carmen knocks him down to his knees with lots of kicking and punching."There is one valuable lesson I learned from you.One you didn't intend to teach.Only losers wear empty coats."Carmen announced as she pulls a laser gun from her coat.She then turns it on and points it at Shadowsan.
"I would agree."Replied Shadowsan while taking out the tiny nesting doll from his coat.Carmens eyes then widen while she remembers the presence of the nesting dolls through-out her life.Zack and Ivy place the nesting dolls on a shelf at head quarters.As a baby Carmens father cheers her up with the dolls.Shadowsan holds baby Carmen as the house around them burns but he saves the nesting dolls from the fire.In the present...Carmen drops the laser gun.Her eyes fill with tears and she collapses in Shadowsans arms."What do you remember?"Asked Shadowsan.
"I...I'm not sure."Replied Carmen as she spots the laser gun.
"Gray?"She asks while looking at the museum dropping to her knees.
"What have I done?"She asks while tears roll down her face.
"There is much to explain."Stated Shadowsan while kneeling to his knees to comfort Carmen.Divineaux and the chiefs holagram watches them."it's him.He is the one who held me captive in the basement in Poitiers."Divineaux stated as they walk towards Shadowsan and Carmen.
"You're...Chief?"Asked Carmen as the chief nods.
"I don't think we've been introduced."Commented the chief.
"I go by Shadowsan."Replied Shadownsan.
"You owe me a cup of coffee.I believe you know the place."Exclaimed the chief.
"I do."Stated Shadowsan.
"Ms. Sandiego.Do you happen to recall the location of VILE's base of command?And are you willing to direct us there?"Asked the chief as Carmens eyes dart left and right before looking at the chief.
