Moving from middle to high school is a big change. My older brother Ed is moving into UNI next year (we hope), and if he doesn't he wants to pursue music, as do I. I just wish our parents were okay with it. They're always saying "You need a proper education first." Ugh. But, in four weeks I'll be auditioning for Britain's X Factor, I'm so excited! I may actually get the chance to sing...for a living. My parents are very supportive about it but they would rather me be a lawyer, or nurse. But that won't slide. All I can think about is singing for the rest of my life.
I woke up early today and heard my brother singing. It sounded so amazing, I clapped when I walked out of my room. "Encore, encore!" I yelled. "Oh stop it." Ed said. Then we began to walk downstairs for french toast. The bread dipped into egg, then cooked in a small pan. Drizzled with syrup, and sprinkled with confectioners sugar. Mm, just thinking about it makes me starved.
"Mm, mum it smells delicious!" I said in excitement. "Thank you Perrie, it's made with a special twist." She replied. I gave her a scared look since the last time she made a "twist" I was barfing in the bathroom for a week. "You'll love it!" She replied to my expression.
I looked at the food and the only difference I saw was that it was rolled up. "Okay. Ed you try it first." I said to him, but I saw that his plate was cleared. "Wuh." I said. "Just taste it." He replied. So with that I cut a piece, examined, then ate. "Mm. Nutella?" I said. "Yes ma'am." Me mum replied.
As I was finishing me mum got a phone call from me dad. "Hi honey," she answered, "how a...oh, uh okay honey, bye." Then she hung up the phone. Me dad has been in London for the past two weeks, taking care of my great grandmum. She has been sick for a while but now it's severe. "What's wrong?" Asked Ed. "They're giving her - they're - they're giving her a week." She answered, barely getting it out.
As I walked upstairs to the bathroom I realized I haven't seen my grandmum in four years, and I want to visit her one last time. I took a shower and put on my clothes, blow dried my hair, then curled it, checked in the mirror and went off to room to get my bag.
Ed and I started to walk to school at 7:30. School starts at 8:30 but we live half an hour away, so we walk, get there around eight, and then we get ready for class. In high school they combine South Shields, Romford, and Wycomb together, which is why we live so far away.
Today me best friend Jade and I will be starting a new journey in life together. Finding more friends. Both of us are auditioning for Britain's X Factor in four weeks, but not together. We can't wait!
"Are you gonna audition?" I asked Ed. "No," he replied, "I'm gonna finish high school first, but I'll be there supporting you." He replied. When we arrived at the school he went left to the senior hall and I took a right and a left to the freshman hall.
I took out the piece of paper that had my locker number and combination. "Locker 137...here it is. Combination...42...12...4." And my locker opened. So to remember my brother said look at the color, "Green," I said to myself, which side if the hall, "right," I noted, which section, "three," and top or bottom, "bottom." I finished. "Green, right, three, bottom." Then the first bell rang.
I set my pastel purple Jansport backpack in my locker, pulled out my books, and waited for Jade to come so we could make some new friends.
