"Run away now... take left, then right and then left again."

"They will eat you out alive."

"Mmm..hm... what- W-who...?"

"Ready or not, here I come!"

━━━━━━━━

The order was running through my mind like a chant... "Left right left... left... right.. and-"

I gasped as the gunshots rang through the walls, instantly stopping in my tracks and looking around as if I would've been in the range of the bullets myself. Again, yet slowly, I bag regaining my "consciousness" about the current surroundings... with one problem... I forgot what door I was supposed to open.

I looked back and saw the already opened door, a sign that I came through there. But from what I remembered, the other 3 doors in the corridor were closed. Yet now... only 2 were closed.

I fixated my eyes on the opened door, but didn't make one step away from the spot I was standing in. Not even an inch of movement, yet every part of my body was screaming at me, blaming me for gasping so loudly. I didn't listen to the inner voice trying to drag me out of the way of imminent danger. And I regretted it. In the next second, I found myself in front of whatever looked, sounded, smelled and felt... like death.

I gulped and felt goosebumps around my arms, my stomach started turning and twisting. I backed away slowly as the growls coming from straight ahead were horrible. My eyes were going blurry because of fear. My breath got ragged and heavy, yet quick and tiring. My lungs felt like they were on fire. I quickly looked at my right, a door. Then at my left, another door. Straight ahead... the words played in my mind... "They will eat you alive." and the flashback of the previous center... a near death situation. The smell, the growls, were so similar.

That was the moment I realized I had to run. Fast and far.

Adrenaline kicked through right as the footsteps grew louder and I could soon see the shadow of the dead running through the corridor towards me. Taehyung's words were clear in my mind by then, and I immediately pushed the knob of the door located on the left, closing it behind me and dragging several objects, whatever was coming at my hand first and looking promising to hold back brutal force. It was a board, two chairs and lastly, some boxes laying around.

I backed away from the door and took a deep breath. My mind was a mess, I couldn't think of anything. Maybe it was fear, adrenaline, worry. One thing was certain... I had no resources. I had no water, no food, no meds and no weapon. That means that I could not stay in the "safe" room forever. I looked around and noticed a pretty big hole in the window, some light getting in... Light? Morning was coming up, huh?

I leaned over the window and darted my eyes around the streets, the sky, the buildings. It was a complete shock. What I expected as the usual calm of the town I grew up into... was, in fact, a huge disaster. A horrible flood, the water looking like it was freezing cold. The wind blowing hard and mercilessly. The "things" roaming around the rooftops of the buildings, some easily noticeable through the windows of the close by blocks.

The bangs on the door were the ones that interrupted me from analyzing the outside, the wood seeming not to be able to hold on much longer. I was both surprised and terrified as the hits were animalistic, the growls were hungry and lethally loud.

I cursed inside my head and frantically looked around for a way out, nothing seeming good enough other than the vents above. I climbed on one of the tables that I could find, reaching my hand for the trap door and then struggling to open it. My movements were sloppy and engulfed by fear noticing the bony hand getting through the door, breaking the wood and pushing against the improvised barricade. Again, I drifted my eyes up to the vents and, with all my strength, I managed the open the rusty entrance, gripping and pulling myself inside.

I cried out as the things started shuffling, breaking, falling around but I did not care to look back. I climbed and swung my legs to get a friction inside the vent, pushing the door closed and continuing to crawl further inside. While moving, I tried to be quiet, moment when my mind also took advantage of the swift silence to roam around. I thought about a lot of "what ifs", a ton of questions that would probably never get an answer... and last but not least... the thought of past. Incapable of realizing, admitting, accepting the sudden change and always desiring to get back to whatever I was calling normality.

I was crawling continuously until something brushed my ears... this time it was not a growl... but a human voice.

"Forget it..."

"How could I? You blamed me... for who? The test subject?"

"He escaped..."

"And? You blamed me."

A slap was heard and I leaned in to listen even more.

"You believe our boss is dead now. The leader knows. We will get through out as feast for those damn creatu-"

"SIR!"

A familiar voice followed.

"Idiots..."

"Sir, wait-"

Footsteps went and faded away, I was unable to understand anything. Only one word after all of it.. and that was... "kill".

*Grins* That's that for now, but I am back in the game, so updates will slowly come back to normal don't worry, I won't let you guys down.
