The Fey

Prologue

"Legend says,

 that a long, long, time ago, Fey were born from the essence of human emotion.

The six main emotions build up courts. The Court of Anger. The Court of Happiness. The Court of Sadness. The Court of Disgust. The Court of Fear. The Court of Surprise.

And each court can wield these emotions to their own advantage. Creating different types of glamour. Nature. How the land in their territory looks weighs on that emotion. It's the tether between the human world and faeries.

Legend also says that a long, long, time ago, vicious, strange, Fey were born. Nothing is clear about them. They might not be so vicious. Or strange. Again, murky. Anyone who believes this "myth" doesn't know much about them. But they have simply named themselves The Court of Fey. Faeries. Fey. Strange words, aren't they?

And there's still something I'm forgetting to tell you. Something no one can reveal. But I will try.

There are elements in this world. But they are alive. Have thoughts. And they have power. Unhindered. Unhinged.

One particular element was so obsessed with power that he craved more. He already had plenty, worth trillions of mystical chests. Not that power is measured that way. It's not measured. It's there. Glamour.

He could make t- something longer or shorter for people. But after the Court of Fey was born he could no longer do so. The basic elements of life lost a tiny portion of their power to the new Fey. So Time..."

Cough. Sputter. Choke.

Her mouth is forced open by an unnatural force as the powers of the sea flood her mouth. She's rapidly losing breath. But she won't die yet. No. Her granddaughter should hear one last thing.

"Power," her eyes widened to an abnormal degree. "Fuels," No. However tempted, her last breath couldn't be 'I love you'. No. it would have to be, "E- Everyone."

Her head lolls back. A scream rattles the lifeless room. A sour, haunting reek slither's in. 

Power fuels everyone.
