[Niall's P.O.V.]

"... Then we heard gun shots and Harry collapsed on the floor and I don't really remember much after that," I confess to the police officer who was questioning me.

"That's enough. Thank you, Niall. You've helped a lot," he says as he leads me toward the entrance. "You're free to go."

I nod as I walk to where Tricia was sitting. She smiles up to me as I sit.

"How are you?" She asks in a tentative voice.

"I don't really know. It's kind of a lot to take in, ya know?"

Tricia nods as she wraps an arm around me and pulls me closer to her. I relax into her shoulder as I realize that I missed my own mother. I untangle myself from Zayn's mum and reach for my phone. I walk to the entrance of the police station as I dial my mum's phone number and she picks up on the first ring.

"Niall James Horan," she begins and I cringe.

"Mum-"

"What are you, young man? Is there a reason you missed school yesterday and didn't come home last night? Without a phone call?"'

"I'm sorry, Mum. I just-"

"Is it that Liam boy?"

The disappointment in her voice nearly sent me into tears.

"No, Mum. I just-"

"Where are you, Niall?"

"The police station," I say in a small voice.

"Why are you there? Niall, what kind of trouble did you get into?"

I hear a door shut and I let out a sigh.

"I'll explain when you get here," I whisper.

"I'll be there soon."

And with that she hung up. No, 'I love you,' no nothing. I really had disappointed her. I was so wrapped up in getting my friend back that I didn't even think of my mum. Tears threaten in my eyes and I put my phone away.

"Ni?"

I look up to see Liam standing there with a confused expression. He walks slowly toward me and me opens his arms.

"What's wrong, love?" He asks as I fall into his arms and he run a hand up and down my back.

"My mom," I choke out. "She's disappointed in me."

"How could someone be disappointed in someone as wonderful as you?"

"I haven't called her for the last couple days," I sniffle. "I don't even have a good lie to tell her, Li."

Liam remains silent for a few moments and I look up to him to find him looking out the window of the door. He seems to be thinking about something.

"What if we don't lie to her?"

"What?" I sniffle in confusion.

"What if," he pauses as he turns his gaze down to me. "What if we tell her the truth?"

"Are you sure?"

"Yeah, I mean it gets you off the hook. And I plan on being around for a while so why not?"

A blush creeps into my face as I smile at him.

"You plan on being around for a while?"

"I'm not going anywhere, love."

He presses a soft kiss to my lips and it causes a slow smile to spread across my face. I see a car pull up to the police station and I tell Liam to go tell Tricia that we're leaving. I brace myself as my mother walks through the door. She looks around and her eyes land on me. Her eyes seem to soften a tad as she sees me.
