CHAPTER ONE- "GOODBYE JERSEY HELLO SUNSHINE AND PALM TREES"

MOVING to a new town was not how I wished I would be spending my senior year in high school. I would miss my hometown friends so much, but I knew moving was for the best financially. My mother had picked up a better job and I couldn't be mad at her for wanting her kids to have a better life. So here I was "Goodbye Jersey Hello Sunshine and Palm Trees." As we picked up the last of our things in the house that had raised me through my whole eighteen years of living I had to admit I'd miss the place a lot. Especially since we lived with our whole family. I ended up being the last one out of the house having to say goodbye to everyone.

I quickly got into the car as I left and shut the door, one last final time. I sighed looking out the window as my mom slowly drove away. Leaving what was to be there in the dust.

Once in a while, my mother would try to pipe in on how great California was going to be. But it only left even more crickets that weren't already formed inside the car to be formed. The drive was very silent, Daniel didn't even make a single peep. They only left a mother to drive in a bit of sadness so I decided to pipe in with her. "You know what Mom, I think California will be a great new start.." I tried to chime in. Her face immediately started to flip into a great big smile. "Now that's the spirit sweets!" She said with a great big smile on her face.

"You'll love it you know! Tones of people down here new friends galore!" She says ecstatic. "I sure hope," I said looking out the window.

I didn't have real Greta luck in Reseda, no one I found my cup of tea, and I didn't like to get into any type of trouble. So I barely had any friends. My mother and I continued with our small talk almost the whole way to California, but I decided I'd take a quick snooze before we hit California.

I got startled awake by Daniel shaking me awake, and my mother telling him to be easy as I jumped up. "God we made it!" She stated her smile not leaving her face.

"Grab some things, you guys! And go check out the pool!" She yelled over her shoulder as both Daniel and I got out of the car. I grabbed two trunks tugging on them as Daniel grabbed his bike and put another two trunks on his handlebars. "Work smarter, not harder." He said matter of factly as we walked up towards the gate door. His smirk still does not leave his face while he kicks the door open. Only to be heard by a loud thud nose on the other side. "Daniel!" I started quickly walking into the gate to look at what he had knocked over or in this case who? "Damnit Daniel get in here and help me!" I yelled over my shoulder trying to help the guy up. "I'm okay! No worries." He started getting up on his own.

"I am so sorry he tends to think he's got master moves," I started rolling my eyes looking over at my brother now while he was just standing there awkwardly. I cough a bit to tell him he needs to say something. "Hey man, I'm sorry about that," Daniel stated raising his hand out to shake.

"No worries man? What do u call that.." the guy didn't finish his sentence because he just didn't know what to call Daniel.

"Daniel, it's some karate I picked up back home," Daniel stated as the guy's facial expression changed to shock. He finally took Daniels's hand and shook it.
