CH 24 | A Song Between Hearts

I dragged Rimuru with me outside of the inn, though it was fun running while he was trying to catch up from behind, he quickly got a hold of himself and started to run alongside me.

Why was I running? I felt oddly energetic today, as if excited about something that I didn't know.

Rimuru: "You're surprisingly energetic for someone who was freezing a few moments ago."

Luminous: "Arah~? Remember the person who made me in that state? And here I thought I should brighten up the mood and move more... I haven't recovered yet, you know?"

In his classic manner, Rimuru tried to tease a girl and it ended up backfiring on him, making an adorable blush appear on his face.

Luminous: "I wonder if you have a way to heal my frozen heart~ You wouldn't be so shameless as to pretend that everything is fine after what you did to me... You wouldn't, right?"

Rimuru: "Oi! Y-you're making it sound like something entirely different!"

With his face redder than roses, I felt satisfaction and enjoyment more than I usually do when I see his flustered and embarrassed expression.

What I didn't know was that I also had a blush covering my face due to my own words. But it wasn't anywhere near Rimuru's level of embarrassment.

Luminous: "Are you trying to change the subject? Tsk Tsk. You're more shameless than I thought, Rimuru. *Sniff* I guess not even a small girl like me would be cared for..."

Rimuru: "OI!!! Stop it! It's not even fun anymore!"

Luminous: "*sob*"

By completely ignoring his request and playing as a weak and broken girl, Rimuru was now a step away from exploding, and the fact that we were running through the street like children only made the situation worse for my poor slime.

Rimuru: "Alright!! I have something planned for today!"

Luminous: "Really? What is it!?"

I instantly dropped the act away and stared him in the eye. I wasn't expecting him actually to have something prepared, but it's a very welcomed surprise.

Why was I acting this way? I usually wouldn't be this teasing nor would I try to get something out of Rimuru, but today...

Not only do I feel unnaturally energetic, but I also feel as if I'm brimming with happiness as if something great had happened, despite the only thing happening was me almost freezing to death.

'It's odd, but I won't question feeling energetic on a good day.'

Rimuru: "If you want to know it so much... First thing is going to see a few shows that happen among the residents, such as tournaments or stage dramas. After that... Well, that's a surprise~"

Luminous: "Oh? What might that surprise be? Will you tell me your f-"

As I was going to tease Rimuru even more, I suddenly stopped my movement as I noticed a group of people gathering in front of a burned building.

Recognizing the area to some extent, my curiosity took over and I moved to the closest person in the group.

Luminous: "Why are there so many people gathering around here?"

Random dude: "Apparently, yesterday at late midnight, this flower shop was burned and completely incinerated in less than an hour, which is fast considering the amount of glass used there, let alone how no other building was burned... This is the work of an expert..."
