"Page three hundred and ninety-four!" Severus Snape, the chemistry teacher, burst into the classroom.
Draco flipped through the pages, grabbed the first pen he could find from his pencil case, and wrote down the topic of today's lesson without thinking about its meaning.
He did everything today without thinking. Giving the reins to his body, trained by years of hard study, Draco was drowning in a bottomless abyss of heavy self-destructive thoughts.
No matter how hard he tried, he couldn't ignore the fact that he had kissed Harry Potter in a completely idiotic way yesterday. Just thinking about it made his face burn with fire, and his fists itched to punch himself. Or at least charge the nearest chemistry textbook into his face.
This whole absurd situation in his room yesterday looked like it couldn't get any worse. And yet it had gotten worse.
Right in the middle of their rooftop hot embrace with Harry, his mother Narcissa walked into the room. How did Draco realize it? By her exasperated shrieking, theatrical grip on her stopping heart, and angrily bulging eyes.
Throwing wild glances at the half undressed Harry, who had just gotten out of the shower, she rushed to open all the windows. No matter how much Harry tried to justify himself and explain the situation, Narcissa didn't listen to him and immediately escorted him out of the manor.
What followed was a long sleepless night full of strange family conversations. Narcissa carefully and ingratiatingly explained why and how they had forged his birth documents, why he was an omega instead of an alpha. And, to finally finish Draco's already shattered psyche, his father, who had been indifferent and unconcerned until then, joined the conversation.
Lucius Malfoy, with unprecedented zeal and pressure, began to explain how omegas should behave in society, the rules of safety when communicating with alphas. And at the end, looking into his eyes with emphasis, he told about the peculiarities and difficulties of the mating process.
After such a magical talk, Draco couldn't sleep at all, he didn't even go to bed. He sat on a chair in the middle of his ascetically decorated room and sat like that until morning. Now Draco sat in his chair in class with the same frustration and horror in his eyes and huge blue bags underneath them, staring into the void.
