The mansion was a void of silence. Nyx, the mysterious man, had told me to take a seat upon a sofa. I did as I was told and now sat fidgeting with my thumbs. A group of fierce and fair faced men stood staring at me from across the room.
"Please miss Hamora, explain to us why you are here." Nyx inquired with a bat of his inky eyelashes.
I sat at loss of words. Perhaps I spoke a bit too harshly? I shook my head a tinsy bit, allowing my words to tumble out. "I am here to investigate a certain, I suppose you would say, case." A silver haired man's azure hues urged me to continue. "A case that could and shall determine the future of Arcadia. The Queen's Egg."
My words seemed to have stirred the Aube Hunters, for now they stood alert and ready to attack. Imagine! A group of Thanatos slyers ready to battle a woman. It would seems a silly sight from afar, but perhaps they honestly kept the Queen's Egg. Perhaps she is really here?
My thoughts drifted to Ange, but not her as a frail child. Ange, the oblivious loved Ange. A rough voice pulled my attention from the thoughts of her.
"What do you want with the Queen's Egg? It is not just for you to arrive here with little detail." The speaker beheld the fiercest glare of all. If I had to guess, I would say the Queen's Egg does exist and he has a strong connection to her.
I pursed my lips in response. "What is it? Can you not answer this one? Makes sense." I sense my aggravation and even his. The Queen's Egg was someone important to him. My nostrils flared a tinsy bit.
"As it so happens sir, I am simply writing an article for a gazette. If it is not too much to ask, may I please stay for a day or two? Simply to inquire about the Queen's Egg and the Aube Hunters, of course." Sensing no decision quite yet, I continued on. "Plus, I had heard of what the Aube Hunters do, but many anxious beings in Farian await the news. If I could-"
"You are welcome to stay, miss Hamora. There is no need to strengthen your argument. Of course we would wish to help you. Perhaps it would be nice for our dear Angelique to have some feminine company." He attempts to discreetly look me over. "Well, female company anyhow."
A faint blush paints my cheeks. How dare he say that? Well, I suppose it cannot be helped. I am by no means ladylike. I wring my wrists in wait for a welcome, only to be a bit disappointed. "Welcome to Sunlit Mansion, a place of spectacular food." A chorus of agreement spread through the group like wildfire. My stomach rumbled at the thought of deliciosus. I had not eaten in a day and felt a bit light headed as an effect. Oh dear me and my blasted eating habits.
Nyx seemed to have heard my little antic, for he offered me an elegant hand. "Miss Hamora, I shall lead you to the kitchen and then Rayne shall accompany you to your temporary room once you have finished."
"Hey! I want nothing to do with her. Command one of the others to perform that task Nyx. I refuse!" Judging by the crimson haired man's rant, I would say he is Rayne.
Nyx shot him what I would classify as a, 'do it or I'll scold you later' look. Rayne battled his stare for a minute or two. He finally gave in with an annoyed hmph. Heaven knows I don't want to deal with him. "Fine. I suppose I will."
* * *
Nyx had left me in the kitchen, going off to more important business. I had not spotted my sister since my arrival. Perhaps it was not her? No. It was most definitely her. Still, the way she does not recognize me. Maybe using a fake identity was unnecessary? Hmm. I'm still unsure.
"Yuki? Is it alright if I call you that?" Speak of the devil. Ange strolled into the kitchen while I was distracted. Her seafoam hues seemed strangely accusing to me. When we were children, she beheld a gentle tone to her. Perhaps I am mistaking the aura for something else.
I nodded. The little act seemed to have satisfied her, for she continued on. "You look oddly familiar, but I cannot place where I have seen you." Our house. Our village. You use to curl up next to me when you were afraid of things you would see. Oh dear little Ange, it is I. Your big sister. We haven't seen eachother for years. If only we could go back to the way things use to be. But instead I simply shrugged at her accusation.
"I do not miss a face. I fear I cannot say I remember your's." I spoke with a bitter tinge to my words. It hurt my heart to say these words, but I knew what had to be done. If Ange was living here with the Aube Hunters, It could only mean one thing.
My little sister is the Queen's Egg and she will aid me in revenge. A revenge for our village and parents. A revenge that was for her.
