cory wanted to start playing another game. granted, he had about a thousand that he has yet to finish. does he have a good reason not to? well, no...but he wanted to give his audience some new material. cory hasn't posted in about two weeks and while the samurai are frantic and believe that he may leave to take yet another 9-month hiatus, that is far from the truth.

he has been looking on steam for quite some time for an interesting enough-looking game to purchase or download and one, in particular, caught his special attention. it's called phasmophobia and it's a paranormal horror game.

and what he knows of it is that a player who can work solo or in a group with up to three other players to complete a contract in which they must identify the type of ghost haunting the specified site.

even though he could get this game wrapped up in no time on his own...he didn't want to. it just didn't feel right, especially since he saw other youtubers such as markiplier playing with their friends. he figured that it'd be only right if he did the same. so...he invited his long-distance girlfriend y/n who, unfortunately, isn't in michigan at the moment.

instead, she is back home in oregon, but that's beside the point. long story short, she doesn't like the horror genre as a whole, but cory has been trying his best to convince her otherwise since he's practically a pro at them. it took weeks of begging and coddling to even get his girlfriend to even consider appearing in a spooky scary sunday episode.

it was hard being in a long-distance relationship. cory knew what he was getting into when he asked y/n that special question (i.e., "can i be your boyfriend?") and he was ready to bare the responsibility of not letting go of what they have. they did anything they could to spend some together, despite their options being limited to a few options.

binging all sorts of media (y/n made a special list where she put some of her favorite shows and movies, so she can show cory them and vice versa), playing video games, calling or facetiming until the crack of dawn, and— lastly— the most expensive one: one of them flying to the other person's state for a while, so they could actually go onto dates and cherish the moments they have in each other's presence before they have to be separated again.

"okay, cory," y/n's voice spoke out from the other end of the phone line in the middle of their call. "we've been dating for...what...a little over 11 months? and i know whenever you're trying to get on my good side. what's going on?" she asked, knowingly.

cory— who was sitting on the couch— felt his breath hitch after having her figure him out. he let out a small, awkward laugh. "aw, how'd you know?" he turned the focus back onto his girl with a smirk.

"it's my womanly intuition." y/n retorted playfully. "anyway," she started. "was there something that you needed, honey?"

he let out a small, almost childish groan. cory took the next moment to take a deep breath and took what little time he had left to think of how to ask his question. "you're not going to like it..." he warned.

"try me."

hesitantly, cory began, "well, there was this scary game and i was wondering if maybe we could play it together for a video? i think it'd be pretty funny." he explained only to be initially met with silence. at least he can appreciate y/n allowing him to finish his sentence and not freaking out as soon as she heard the term 'scary'.
