Your POV
Today was my very first day at SFIT. Whenever I told someone I was going to SFIT they did not believe it for a second. Thats probably because I didn't even look like a nerdy genius. From another person's point of view I am the person that drinks and get high. Even though that is me, that dose not mean I cant be a strait A student.
"HAVE A NICE DAY SWEETIE!" screamed my mom from the car. Ugh how embarrassing but I simply ignored her. "Is that your mom?" some kid my age with messy raven black hair asked me. "Nope don't know anything about her" I said sticking a cigarette in my mouth. As I was about to lite it he stopped me and said,"ever see the no smoking signs?" I rolled my eyes and sticked it back in the pack it came in. "whats your name?" I asked.
"Hiro, Hiro Hamada"
"Im Y/n l/n" I said kindly shaking his hand.
I walked in the girls bathroom and took out the cigarette I once put in my mouth and lit it. A girl about age 17 walked in. "hm, I don't think I have ever seen you here before, are you new?" I took the cigarette out of my mouth and blew out the smoke.
"Yeah why?"
"Well Im having a party at my house tonight hoping you could come maybe" She said handing my a paper that mentioned her name which was Jenna and her address and the time to be there.
"See you there!"
~AT THE PARTY~
I knocked on the door and Jenna opened quickly. "Glad you can make it!" she said. I walked in and there where so many people in fact it might me everyone from SFIT.
I walked around more and I even found Hiro. "Hey Hiro"
"Wow surprised to see you here, Jenna doesn't really like to invite new people"
"Well Im different then most new people" I said. After talking to him for a little while I said, "okay Im gonna get a drink." As I walked off he said "Not too much!"
I scoffed, "your not my mother"
TIME SKIP
Because I didn't listen to what Hiro said and ended up drinking way to many drinks Hiro did me a favor and drove me back home.
We parked in front of the house and Hiro said, "hey your lights are on I think your mom is still awake." I groaned. Of course she noticed I snuck out.
"Well thanks anyway for giving me a ride"
"No problem" after that we stared at each other for a second and to break the awkwardness Hiro gave me a small 3 second peck on the lips. And that made it more awkward of course. I walked up to the door and quietly opened it. When I went upstairs I saw my mom standing in front of my door. "we need to talk" she said.
"No, Im really tired sorry"
"y/n! Listen to me I am your mother and-"
"UGH LEAVE ME ALONE YOU BOTHER ME SO MUCH!" And with that I slammed the door and went to sleep.

Its been a month since that party, I started going out with Hiro and he introduced me to bot fighting, I got so addicted to it I've been doing it every night
Tonight I came home from a bot fight and my mom was not home, Thank goodness! She would have gotten mad at me for doing it since its illegal and she never really trusted Hiro, but I know he is the best guy I could have in my life she just doesn't see that. Later that evening I got a phone call. I answered it and it was my Aunt Cathy and it sounded like she was crying.
"Ca-Cathy whats wrong?"
"Its your mother y/n sh-she"
"She what? just tell me?!" I screamed into the phone crying
"Your mother died"
I hung up the phone and asked Hiro to drive me to the hospital. I didn't even bother to ask the lady in the front what the room number was I just ran down the hall looking for my Aunt. Me and Hiro finally found her. Hiro and my Aunt left me in there to see her. I walked in and stared at her pale face and never realized until now my mother was beautiful. Tears started flowing out of my eyes as I spoke.
"mom, you are my hero, you loved me and cared for me and I treated you like crap. but I get it now, mom. I miss you. and I wish you where still here so I can tell you these things, so please wake up." I stayed with her for a few more extra minutes until a doctor told me it was time for me to go.
Since the funeral I stopped smoking and taking drugs I stopped everything my mom didn't want me to do except for dating Hiro, me and him are now 18 and we are planning to get married. I just wish my mom could see me get married.
And I also know that life isn't about winning the race.
