Glory had been filing scrolls in the library all day. It had been decades since anyone was in there, she could tell. Dust had piled into each crevice and spiders built webs on top of older webs. Above all that, it was an exeptionally small library, with many outdated scrolls.
She was planning on taking some of the updatable scrolls to starflight, since he would know exactly how to correct them, without damaging the scroll or having to rewrite the whole thing. There were also a few waterproof scrolls written by Coral that Tsunami would enjoy having, so glory would give her those later today also.
The vine doorway shuffled in the corner of her eye and she ignored it. It was probrobly either the wind or someone visiting the library for the first time ever. But she heard extremely faint scrapes evry few seconds, and they sounded stalled. Like someone was trying not to let them scrape on the wooden floor. She tuned around to see a familiar dark purple nightwing getting ready to pounce her.
"Glory!!! You weren't supposed to turn around! How did you even hear me?!" Deathbringer huffed and sat beside her.
"Floors here must be less sound resistant than the floors in the nightwing kingdom." She smirked. "Plus, you've attacked me enough that I managed to note some obvious things that you do while stalking."
He scowled in a forced way, like he was trying not to smile. "I see...I'll have to change my tactics."
Glory went back to sorting the scrolls surrounding her, burying the table. Withing minutes the room was silent, you couldn't even hear the dragons breathing. Deathbringer was watching Glory's evry movement. It was boring, but as long as she wasn't pushing him away, it was good.
'Why is he still here...' glory thought. Without her convent her scales turned blue/grey with purple hilights. She was getting nervice and her movements were choppy and forced. She dipped her talon in an ink jar to mark the scroll as one to give to Starflight, but the ink driped and splattered right in the middle of the page. She gasped and tried to whipe it off, only to spread it more and add more ink with the still wet talon. In her frenzy, she ripped a hole in the page and got ink on the spotless desk underneath. "Aw, GREAT!!!" Her scales turned red and white and she wrinkled her snout at the ink "JUST WHAT I NEEDED!!! A MESS!!!"
Deathbringer reached out to calm the frustrated queen, and Glory's glare was like venom. She cought herself, not wanting to be rude to deathbringer, and forced her scales to pale pink. It wasn't much of an imrprovement, but if she could keep deathbringer from being scared, it was good enough. She slammed her head on the ink covered table and sighed. "What good is a queen if I can't even handle reading and writing?"
Deathbringer shuffled closer to her, and wrapped a wing around her. She stiffened under him, but didn't object. Her eyes were stinging, either from ink that may have splashed or tears. "Your just under pressure...it's ok Glory. It must be tiring being such a young queen...let alone controlling two rival kingdoms..."
Glory sighed again and raised her head. She didn't look to see how much ink got on her, because she didn't want to stress over that too. Deathbringer removed his wing and went through a hallway on the other side of the room, only only to return minutes later with some dead leaves, To was her off with. While he was gone glory felt cold, and pulled her wings tightly on her side to keep warm.
Deathbringer rubbed the lave across her neck to pick up the ink, and then across her chin and cheak. He examined her a bit more to be sure he got as much off as he could, and satisfied with his work, he threw the leaves away.
"You seem restless you know..." he said carefully. "Not just stressed. I'm not sure what else it is...but it's not just stress...."
Her scales fluttered pink and purple and she quickly squashed them into plain blue. "I-I don't know what it could be...sorry." she shuffled away from him and distracted herself by putting scrolls away. She glanced out the window, and realised it was dark outside--night time.
Deathbringer aproached her and touched her shoulder. She flinched away and the spot he touched festered pink. "Are you sure?" He smirked and glory covered her shoulder.
"I'm sure..." I don't handle emotions well... she wanted to add.
He nuzzled her chin and she turned completely pink, uncontrolably. "I don't think you are. I think you just don't want to say what's on your mind." Deathbringer wrapped his tail with hers.
She gave a frustrated growl and looked up at him. "Why does this matter to you?"
"Because," He began, "I love you."
