i get my green and white pythia hoodie and put it on along with my beat up af1s as i made my way downstairs trying not to wake up my mom or my brother
i scroll on instagram for a few mins before i get a text from chris saying they're here

i get into the back of the car with nick and we drive towards the local 7/11
chris is on aux the entire time which i am completely happy with since we have the exact same music taste that i may or may not have totally stolen from him
"y/n chris begged me to come the long way round so we could pick you up" matt says breaking the comfortable silence in the car
"yeah the kid was giggling to himself and shit when you said you'd come with us " nick adds as i watch chris go slightly red and hide his face in his hands rubbing his eyes
"i mean they're right i can't imagine having to deal with them without you" chris finally says now making me go red as i hide my own face into nicks shoulder
"it still confuses me how you guys are so nervous and shit around each other you've been together for almost a year now" matt says watching his brother and best friend giggle and fan girl over each other
"matt shush i think it's cute" nick says defending my constant shyness
we pull into the 7/11 and me and nick get out as matt and chris argue over something as usual
we all walk towards the store as as i make my way to the door i feel an arm snake around me and look up to see chris smiling down at me as he kisses my forehead
"sorry matt and nick tried to embarrass you in the car" i say
"don't worry about it they've been embarrassing me for 20 years now" he replies reassuring me that it wasn't as awkward as it felt
we make it into the store and nick and i go straight to the candy as matt and chris go to the fridges to search for pepsi and root beer
"the fact that we're wearing matching hoodies makes us look like we're trying so hard" i say fully realising me and nick are fashioning the same thing
"we have to embrace it" he says getting his phone out to put a picture of us on his instagram story

we go to the fridges to get our own drinks and go to find matt and chris
we all have what we want and make our way to the register to pay
"that'll be $5.50" the cashier says as i get my card out to pay for my stuff
chris quickly hands her a $10 bill and pays for his and mine all at once
i mean it's exactly what i expected him to do but i still don't like when he does it
"chris just this once let me pay for myself"
"no y/n paying for your stuff is my job" he says handing me my things and we walk towards the door as matt and nick pay for theirs
we sit on the sidewalk waiting for matt since he has the keys and we aren't bothered getting them
plus it's a pretty clear night and the sky is beautiful rn
"those stars remind me of you" chris says catching me off guard
"what do you mean" i ask
"they're bright and beautiful and every time i see them i have to pause and admire them" he says making me feel warm inside knowing how much he loves me
i lean onto his shoulder as we share the moment together, young and in love
"chris you're my star" i say truthfully as i admire him from this angle
"i love you y/n, so so much, i could never imagine life without you" chris says as i try to think of a way i can express my love for this amazing boy in an even bigger way than that
"do you want half my nerds rope?" is all i come up with
"yes i do y/n what a way to show your love" he says genuinely smiling, breaking the rope in half
this kid knows me way too well
