He went quiet for a moment again, pausing for a more dramatic effect.
"In the movie The Conjuring, what is the name of the demon haunting the family?"
"Ooh fuck I know that.. gimme a sec..."
Daela took a short moment before delivering an answer.
"Uh.. Valak, right?
"That's the one! Good job~"
The man was actually impressed, he didn't think you would have gotten a sixth question right. Now there was a 50/50 chance she'd actually live.
"Okay, the game is pretty close to the end."
He paused, yet again. A thought hit him. He was curious just why she knew these things.
"Do you enjoy watching scary movies? How do you know so much about horror trivia?"
"I do, from time to time. And after I watched Scream for the first time, I memorized some things about the movie, which could be used as a question so I wouldn't die if well - this happened. I watched Halloween and The Conjuring for fun, and I remember some of the details because I enjoyed the movie."
He laughed in surprise. Why go through all the trouble of memorizing horror movie trivia.. Just in case you'd get a phone call? It was a clever thing to do.
"That's a smart thing to do, you never know when... You might get a phone call like this that you have to play to live."
His tone was smug, he sounded proud of himself. Could she be a survivor since she already knew so much? The man was intrigued.
"But I won now, right? It was the last question you asked. So show yourself, like you promised."
He was shocked but a smile grew on his face and he spoke calmly.
"Fine~ You earned the right to see the Ghostface himself... What.. Would you like me to do? You seem like you have a lot of balls asking me to show myself.. So, give an order, any command you'd like, I shall follow."
If you actually believe that he lets her be in command, you've got it all wrong. He only makes it seem like it. Like a wolf letting the sheep get a head start running away, giving it a glint of hope before catching it and seeing it tremble in despair. The game isn't over yet.
"Drop the knife and stop running around hiding in my house. Also, show your hands so I know you're not playing any tricks. Cheating is against the rules~"
Clever, he thought. He couldn't hide his grin of satisfaction. Daela heard the wooden floor creek behind her, and a metal object hitting the floor. She stood up and slowly turned around, seeing a tall man. He had broad shoulders and almost towered over her. He wore black tight sweatpants, a matching long sleeved shirt, black gloves and of course the iconic ghostface mask. The mask looked a little rough and dirty, like it had been used before. He raised his arms.
"See, I'm showing you my hands~ The right hand is empty and you can see all of my fingers. Now, show me yours~"
The game wasn't supposed to go like this, but none of them really mind. Both of them had fun, which is what really mattered, right? Daela raised her hands, throwing him a slight smile. She slowly walked up to him then kicked the knife to the side, standing face to face with him.
"There you are.."
