Sakusa Kiyoomi had quite the reputation. Nothing bad, but how come you don't know how to act around him?
There was no doubt he was staring at you behind your back. You could feel it. The words were swimming along your textbook now, and the pages were being turned by the wind coming from the open window.
You couldn't focus now, your mind taking you back to your moment with Sakusa behind the school. When you were speechless as he confessed to you. You've had your suspicions about it for some time now, but you didn't really know how to feel about it. Maybe you were just in denial about the fact your crush likes you back. Or it could be because there were thoughts filling your head about how he could just be playing with you. Although, it didn't really matter because you didn't have much time to tell him anything before he left you to your thoughts.
You avoid looking up across the table, because then you'd have to face the fact Sakusa Kiyoomi was standing in front of your table, looking at you as if he was waiting for something.
"Y/n, could I excuse you for a minute?" you wished the ground would open up and just swallow you whole. Still, you stood up before saying, "Yeah, sure".
He led you to an area behind the school near the restrooms. For a while, both of you just stood there, only hearing the swaying trees in the wind and the rumbling leaves on the ground.
Standing there waiting, you couldn't help but look at his features. He has raven black, wavy hair and two moles on the right side of his forehead. He's taller than average with a lean build.
"I like you." Sakusa declares. He doesn't make a move from his spot, seemingly waiting for your reply.
Too hypnotized, you were speechless. You wanted to say something but you were at a loss for words. You felt appreciated and you wanted to show him that but at the moment, you didn't really know how to.
Taking your silence for an answer, he stepped back and walked away. His hands in his jacket's pockets.
It got more and more embarrassing the more you looked back at the memory. It wouldn't leave your head. At this point, you could only hide your face in your hands while recounting the events.
Finally at home, you went straight to your bedroom and lied on the bed.
You've known Sakusa for months now. You'd even consider calling yourselves friends. So how were you supposed to react to this? Just a week ago, you felt like a face in the crowd, but what now?
"Oh, what does it matter? I should just focus on my studies right now", you mumbled to yourself.
The next days were filled with restless studying, and everything seemed endless. But you found comfort in seeing Sakusa. It surprised you that after his sudden revelation, he didn't think to ignore you. Shocked and surprised were words that weren't enough to describe what you were feeling.
In just a month, the two of you became closer. Time seemed to move faster when you were with him. At night, you'd replay his laughter. Oh this is a disaster, you thought. You were in love, but you didn't want to say it. You didn't want all of this to end. Still, you can't help but wonder what would happen if you finally say what you're actually feeling inside?
"This is amazing, I didn't know it could do that. Where'd you even get this?" Sakusa spoke from the chair beside you, fiddling with the keychain hanging from your bag's zipper.
"You'll be surprised how cheap I bought that thing. What am I supposed to do with this one?" You ask and huff as you try to properly write the title for your project that Sakusa's helping you in.
"You're not supposed to write it in the middle" He pointed to the left side of the blank paper,
"Hey, are you free later? I was thinking.. Maybe we could have dinner together?" he continued.
"Possibly, if I finish this thing on time" You wondered if you really could finish your project on time. You figured that this would also be the right time to tell him what you really feel, as you've been holding it in for far too long.
After a few hours, you finally finished your classes - including your project - and it was finally time to leave. You were nervous to face Sakusa, but you know you had to get this off your chest. The two of you were walking now, to a nearby Ramen Eatery that the both of you frequently go to.
Should I wait 'till we get there just to tell him?, you contemplated for a second, But what if it ruins dinner? I'm really hungry. I could just eat at home..
"What's on your mind?" your buddy questioned,
"I like you!" you exclaimed. If you were to be honest, you just wanted it to be over. You wanted to see his reaction.
He was taken aback by your sudden exclamation. You compose yourself as you wait for his answer. It was a few seconds but it felt like hours before, finally, he moved towards you and a smile pulls at his lips at your put-together figure.
A small "Truly?" leaves his lips, then he pouts and asks, "Or is this simply a joke?"
"It's not a joke. I really do like you, ever since you first entered our classroom. I didn't really know how to tell you, at first. I figured it'd just fade away in time. Until you told me that you like me, and I thought that maybe I should also tell you what I felt. I'm sorry it took this long" You felt yourself rambling now, but you could care less.
"I never thought you'd feel the same way.." He mutters,
"Although, I must say, I'm happy that you finally told me. I was worried you were going to say that you wanted our friendship over when you were thinking too long" he says with a faux tone of hurt.
Not in a million years had he ever thought he'd find someone like you, so precious and elegant. Everyone saw how he looked at you with a soft and loving gaze. Every night, he'd spend the time he should be sleeping, thinking about you. How you tapped your pen on the desk every time you were thinking hard about something, how you'd lean your head on your hands when you were bored, how you'd hold your hands together when you were excited, how you smiled, how you laughed, it felt like he remembers everything about you.
Oh, how he discreetly chuckles looking at your figure standing before him nervously. How could someone so beautiful like you, ever like him back? What has he ever done to deserve a miracle like this? His thoughts come to an end as you say,
"Oh, um, well, I don't know what else to say, to be honest" It's silent for a few seconds until Sakusa speaks,
"Tomorrow, would you like to go on a date?" he questions timidly, staying in a stiff position, waiting for your answer.
"Of course, I'd love to!" You happily exclaim.
You didn't know what you expected his reaction to be, but this was certainly better than all the worst case scenarios you'd imagined in your head.

A/N:
It's good to be back LOL! I missed writing stuff like this, i'm actually thinking of posting this on Tumblr too.
This was mostly inspired by the song "Message In A Bottle, Taylor Swift" but this one has a happy ending, I guess? And also because I asked my friend which character should I write about. Anyway, it's so nice to finally finish a work in progress. I started this back in August and stopped because I had to focus on some things.
I'm not sure if i'll do it, but i'm thinking of maybe writing an epilogue for this? It seems a little cut off for me, but i'm not sure.
Either way, thank you for reading this! I hope you enjoyed it!
