"Everyone got their seatbelts on?" Saphira asked, few minutes after they left the quarry. Amelia and Thomas said yes with one voice and the woman nodded, satisfied. Since the silence was too loud for her liking, she pressed a button and the CD that was forgotten in the radio started playing. She smiled when she understood it was the CD that contained her favourite songs, a gift that Tony gave her when she got her driving licence..
She started tapping her fingers rhythmically on the wheel as The Chain began playing..
"I didn't know you were into this kind of music" Stefan said, turning to look at her with an amused smile.
"There are a lot of things that you don't know about me, Dixon.." She responded with a smirk.
"Finally music.." Amelia said with a smile.
"You missed it, sweetheart?" Stefan asked his daughter.
"Who wouldn't miss it? Even the 60 year old grandpa beside me did." She answered laughing.
"Funny.." Thomas replied with raised eyebrows, tho his eyes hid amusement.
"How am I supposed to call you? You don't like anything.. Only old people don't like anything.." She shrugged and saw Stefan looking her from the view mirror with raised eyebrows.
"Sorry if I offended you Tomy.." She said, smiling apologetically at her brother.
"You didn't. And for the record, it's not that I don't like anything.. It's that I'm hard to please." He responded winking at her. She turned her head and got close to her father's ear and whispered..
"Happy?"
"Very.." He whispered back and smiled once again. If there was a thing that Stefan was really proud of, it was the relationship he had with his kids. When Olivia died, leaving him alone with a two year old boy and a newborn baby he was really scared..As long as she was alive, he knew that if he did something wrong he would have someone to guide him..Of course she was a first time mom too but she just knew how to take care of everything..He spend most of his time with his kids, trying to raise them the best he could. And right now, he was glad they developed this relationship with him. There were no secrets between them and he didn't need to say something twice. Within the first time it was done. Sometimes he didn't even need to say anything..One look was enough..
"I smell trouble.." Saphira muttered, watching as the cars in front of her were slowing down and eventually stopping. She turned off the music and stopped the car. They got out and reached the RV, the vehicle that seemed to have the problem. Stefan allowed his kids to go with them, cause he didn't know how much time it would take. And of course Erika got out as well, following her boss..
"I told you we'd never get far on that hose. I said I needed the one from the cube van." They heard Dale saying to Rick. They noticed that from the RV's engine was coming out a black smoke.
"Can you jury-rig it?" Rick asked the older man, trying to find a solution.
"That's all it's been so far.. It's more duct tape than hose. And I'm out of duct tape." Dale answered.
"I see something up ahead. A gas station if we're lucky." Shane suddenly said, lowering the binoculars.
"Y'all, Jim.. It's bad. I don't think he can take anymore." Jacqui got out of the RV and announced. No-one responded. What could they say?
"Hey, Rick you want to hold down the ford? I'll drive ahead, see what I can bring back." Shane broke the silence.
"Yeah, I'll come along too and I'll back you up." T-Dog offered.
"Y'all keep your eyes open now. We'll be right back." Shane said and after that he and T-Dog left, with destination the gas station. Rick went in the RV to talk with Jim and everyone else stayed still waiting patiently..
