if one thing had changed

part of me thinks if one thing had changed,
the roses in your yard would give up their thorns,
the rainbow would glint in a perfect hue,
the party would linger as much as you'd call.

the coffee stains on your favorite spot,
thought of the place where we first lucked out.
as my efforts dwindled to reinvigorate us.
we stood and revealed we're a blank card.

so, what's the philosophy in my never-ending dream
to go, in certain places I'll never know.
but if your smile grew wider; your eyes talked faster,
would I have not needed your words?

back to my so-called future awaiting in the dark
forcing myself to grow it out apart.
different shades of blue of me which I found with you
nothing will change so it cascades and fade.
