( can you hear me now? )
JOSIE WATCHED HER MOTHER TALK TO THE OFFICERS IN FRONT OF THEIR HOUSE. She watched as the officer drove off and Julia turned to look back at her. She stalked over angrily.
"I never want to see another police car in front of this house again. Understand?" She said simply, narrowing her eyes.
"They can fix his stupid car." Josie snapped.
"You better hope I can fix this, or else you're the one paying to fix it." Julia snapped back, moving past her into the house. Josie bit her lip, glancing back as she slammed the door before meeting up with the girls.
Hanna had told them about how her mom wasn't convinced that Josie had been the one to crash it and how she suspected the truth.
"How bad did your parents bust you over wrecking Sean's car?" Emily asked as they walked in the park, going to look at the place they'd decided on for Alison's memorial.
"OK, Hanna didn't wreck it, she just damaged it." Josie defended. "And it's not that bad. I mean, my mom's pissed but my dad's being pretty mature about it."
"Oh."
"There's no 'oh'." Josie told her. "Seriously, it's pretty good."
They stopped at a bench and set their stuff down.
"Okay, so the town is gonna put in a new bench, and we'll plant the flowerbeds, and there's gonna be a pathway of art tiles." Aria told them, gesturing to the bench with both hands.
"Art tiles?" Spencer questioned as she took a seat.
"Messages, pictures, memories of Alison." Emily told her.
"Aw, like little headstones." Hanna commented with a sarcastic smile.
"Hanna." Aria warned.
The blonde looked over at her. "What?"
"We should each do a tile." Emily suggested, ignoring Hanna's comment.
Hanna dug into her purse. "You know, I've had Alison's bracelet since the day we found it in the woods, and I don't want the responsibility anymore."
She held it out towards Aria who shook her head. "I don't want it."
"Seriously, somebody take this." Hanna said, waving it around. Josie, Aria and Emily looked away, denying it. Spencer rolled her eyes and snatched the bracelet.
"Look at us. Bunch of babies." She said, staring down at it. "There's nothing that A can say or do to get us into trouble without making trouble for herself."
"Are you sure it's a her?" Josie questioned.
"Him, her, it doesn't make any difference." She replied, stuffing it in her bag and pulling out her computer.
