Unexpected Surprise

When there's a knock at the garage door and Corey opens it to see Carrie, he nearly slams it shut in her face.

His lookalike arch rival showing up to his house means nothing good, she's usually with her band and there to brag about getting a gig that they missed out on.

But Carrie pushes her way in before Corey can do anything, she comes in and leans against the wall with a grin.

"Don't worry, I'm not here to brag. I'm here to pick someone up," she says.

This is when he realises all three of his bandmates are not around.

Carrie Beff is taking one of these three out, or one of those two since Laney is automatically out, but who?

She has stated many times how much she doesn't like Kin and Kon.

What could have changed her mind?

Actually, that doesn't matter.

What matters is that somehow, Corey didn't know about this at all.

Have they been hiding it from him?

It makes sense, because he hates Carrie, but that doesn't matter when it comes to his bandmates and their happiness.

Kin comes downstairs first. "Hey, Carrie."

"Hey, Kin. Almost time?"

Does that mean...?

"Almost! Kon's just gonna be a minute then good to go."

Nope, but that means...

Kon and Carrie?

Well, that's surprising.

Then again, so is Carrie dating any of his bandmates at all.

"All done!" Kon announces, the next one to come down the stairs.

He stands at the bottom and clears his throat before gesturing up.

"Carrie, I present to you: your date!"

"Okay, it's hardly anything, I don't see why we had to do this," Laney says as she comes down.

Kon has worked his hair and makeup magic on her, and it has paid off.

But Corey's brain has short-circuited and shows no signs of turning back on any time soon.

Not that anyone really notices.

Carrie smiles. "Hey, beautiful."

Laney groans but she smiles too. "Please don't, or I'll call you babe or something."

"I'd love that, so yes please, but maybe we should get out of here first."

"You two have fun!" Kin says.

"You better have her back by curfew!" Kon adds.

Laney rolls her eyes but she's too happy to care and Carrie just laughs and promises to do so before they're gone.

Corey is still processing all this information for a good few minutes after that.

Kin and Kon get a bit concerned and start poking him for a reaction.

"Corey? You okay?"

"...since when is that a thing!?"

The twins exchange a look, like he's messing with them.

"Since like two months ago?" Kin says.

"Yeah, they've not really been trying to hide it," Kon adds.

"But...how did I not know!?"

"Well, you've not really been around much since you spend your time outside of band with Allison," Kin says, "so you've been distracted and missing what's right in front of you."

Kon nods and shoves some chocolate into his mouth.

Corey is just...

So confused and shocked by these recent developments and discoveries.

But it's true, he's been hanging out with the new girl in town in his free time.

And Carrie is dating Laney, has been for two months, and he's had no idea.

"...I still can't believe it."

"We can tell," Kin replies.
