It was mid day, Jekyll was in his lab trying to work as Hyde kept nagging at him through the mirror.
"Hyde, would you please be quiet. I'm trying to work." He proceeded to work as he tried to pay no attention to Hyde.
"And what are you working on this time? The transformation again? Remember you made this worse for us last time. We hardly managed to change on time before anyone would notice." He was slightly miffed.
"If you wish for us to be separated then I would suggest you be on your best behaviour and remain silent." He glared at Hyde for a moment before getting back to work.
It had been a few hours now since Jekyll had been brewing his new experiment and it was finally finished. Of course there were no other way to test it then to just drink it himself and so that's what he proceeded to do. He started taking notes as to when he took the concoction and how he felt before he suddenly felt dizzy and fainted. Another few hours had passed and Jekyll felt someone shaking him as to try to wake him, as he also heard someone calling out for him with worry in their voice. He opened his eyes seeing blurry at first, but once his vision returned he saw Poole and Utterson by his side both relieved now that he was conscious. He sat up carefully as to not make this situation worse before seeing Enfield's back as he was crouched a little further in the lab.
"What happened...?" Jekyll asked confused as to why so many people were in his laboratory and a little curious on what Enfield was doing.
"Richard and I tried calling out for you but you never answered. We got worried so we came in here and we found you on the ground, it looks as if you fainted..." Utterson spoke worriedly.
Still though Jekyll was confused before he saw Lanyon quickly enter the room. Lanyon wasted no time but to make his way to Enfield's side.
After a little while Lanyon now spoke, "I see....we must take him to a room there he'll be able to rest and I can take care of him easier then." Lanyon spoke.
"Who's 'he'?" Jekyll got up before going to them and seeing Hyde laying on the ground unconscious as he looked sickly and weaker then usual. Of course this was the downfall of the separation. One would get more then the other and since Jekyll had been the host he was the one who would get more.
"Shall we take him to one of the guest rooms?" Lanyon looked at Jekyll for confirmation as Jekyll nodded. "Alright, Mr. Enfield if you could please carry him, I'll follow you with my supplies." Lanyon spoke not wanting to waste any time.
Richard nodded before carefully picking up Hyde and leaving the room. He went up the stairs and went in one of the guest bedrooms before gently laying Hyde on the bed. He looked at the smaller male a little intrigued. He had seen him before of course after the incident with Elizabeth but never got to see him in this clearly. He looked sicker than before and smaller, he had dark circles under his eyes and had paper white skin, messy black hair and rather long and sharp nails. He was quickly taken away from his thoughts when he felt Lanyon place a hand on his shoulder.
"I apologize but I'll start working now. You can leave if you please." Lanyon took out his supplies and started his treatments on the smaller male.
"Actually....I was wondering if I could help in any way" Enfield didn't wish to leave just yet, he wanted to know more about the situation.
"You can close the curtains and dim the lights. He looks like he hit his head rather hard so he may have a concussion when he wakes. The light will only hurt him."
He immediately nods and does as Lanyon instructed. Lanyon had put a needle through Hyde's hand which contained a substitute for food as he looked malnourished. He then proceeded to take his temperature and check other details as to make sure he was alright.
"I'll go and check on Jekyll, you can stay here and keep watch over him. If you notice anything change or if he wakes up please come and get me."
"Of course" Enfield watched as Lanyon walked out of the room.
He took a chair and set it next to the bed by Edward's side. He proceeded to take one of the books in the small bookshelf of the room and went back to the chair where he took a seat and started reading. A few more hours had passed and still nothing, that was until Hyde opened his eyes slightly and looked around his vision blurry. He tried to sit up so he may possibly proceed to get up but Richard was quick to stop him. Hyde looked in the direction where Enfield was but his vision was blurry though he recognized the pink hair. Enfield tried explaining why he had to remain the way he was but the voice only sounded like a terrible muffle to Hyde as his ears were ringing rather loud. Edward closed his eyes once more as he didn't have the strength to keep them open. He then felt a hand carefully moving the hair off of his face before a cold cloth was applied to his forehead and before he knew it he was out again. Lanyon had kept watch over him for a few days with Enfield as he kept asking to help. About a week later Hyde was well enough to at least have his vision and hearing back as he could now sit down but nothing more.
"And what do you want from me. More money? I haven't done anything clearly since I'm stuck in this damn bed and have been for the last week." He glared at Enfield.
"Of course not I'm only here to help, after all you do need it for the time being" he smiled softly. "Although I do apologize Lanyon couldn't be here today he's sick himself"
"Yeah yeah whatever. I don't want to have to keep getting baby sat by you two anyways. So when will I be able to walk again anyways? It's not as if I feel physically weak anymore."
Enfield thought for a moment. "Well, Lanyon isn't here so I suppose if you don't tell him you can try and walk now, you do have your own cane don't you?" The realization quickly hit him. "Scratch that you broke it after the other incident." He sighed. "I suppose I could try to help you if you'll allow me to"
"I suppose I don't have much of a choice now do I." Hyde was quite annoyed already.
He moved to the edge of the bed as he carefully got up with Enfield as support but he quickly got dizzy and almost fell. Of course Enfield caught him before he could fall and helped him back up properly. They both took their time as Hyde struggled keeping his balance and even just taking a step. After a little of walking around the house, Hyde had terrible leg pains as much as he tried to hide it but Enfield quickly caught on.
"You're in pain aren't you?" Enfield asked with a bit of worry in his voice.
"Of course not who do you take me for." Hyde rolled his eyes.
"Do excuse me for asking but what exactly happened, the last time we saw each other you were full of....rage? Energy? Honestly probably both" Enfield laughed nervously.
"Well even though you won't believe me I suppose I should tell you. Jekyll and I were once one before. Sharing the same body but not the same mind. Well he did this new concoction of his and finally separated 'good and evil' as he likes to call it. Now that I have my own body it's quite weak. Thus why you and Lanyon have been watching after me even tho I'd be perfectly FINE by MYSELF." He sighed in annoyance.
"How is that even possible? And if you two truly were separated then why is he alright and you aren't?" Enfield by that point was clearly confused as it all didn't sound true to him.
"Go ask Jekyll. I can't answer to all of that science stuff I couldn't care less for it." He made his way back to the room before sitting on the bed.
Hyde laid down on his side as he pulled the blankets over himself. Enfield was about to leave before he felt a cold slim hand quickly take his own. He looked back to see that Hyde looked...upset. He then crouched on one knee next to the bed as he held onto Hyde's hand now, he took a risk and ran his other hand through the smaller male's hair. Hyde was shocked but this made him emotionally weak as he simply looked away as tears started streaming down his face, he proceeded to hold onto Enfield's hand tighter as to ensure he wouldn't leave.
"I'm not going anywhere Edward...." He spoke softly, this was the first time he witnessed Hyde showing another emotion then rage and annoyance since they met so he wasn't too sure what to do.
Hyde simply gave a small nod and drifted off to sleep not saying another word as Enfield remained by his side for the rest of the night.
