"Is this place clean?" Yasmin asked no one in particular after Demir shut the door behind him and left her with her new husband.
New and fake husband, a thought fleeted through her mind.
Ates looked around and immediately flopped down on the couch.
"Looks clean to me. They did say their past tenant left very recently" he pointed out, but Yasmin looked at him sceptically and then at their new home.
"It is clean, but not clean enough. We should do a bit of dusting and mopping before we discuss our living arrangements" Yasmin said with a pointed look at Ates.
"Let's discuss our living arrangements first" Ates cut in and before Yasmin could even blink he was rushing towards the only bedroom in the flat, but she was nearer, and immediately blocked the doorway to the room.
"I am a woman, so it's only fair that I get the bedroom," Yasmin said, looking up at Ates' sulking face.
"What? Do you expect me to sleep on the couch forever?" Ates exclaimed.
"Not forever! We don't know how long our situation is going to last. Once you start working and earning money, then you'll save up enough for your own space. This is very temporary" Yasmin said.
She wanted to point at the space between them to indicate their relationship, but she didn't want Ates to get the chance to get past her.
"My own space? We still have to pay the deposit for this place and you think I'll be earning enough money for my own space?" Ates asked rhetorically.
"Okay, maybe you won't. But I am the woman here, so it's only fair that I get the bedroom" Yasmin argued.
"How about we just share it?" Ates suggested with a flirty smile.
Yasmin smiled back sweetly only to flick Ates' head.
"That hurt!"
"Well too bad! Did you already forget what we had agreed on?" Yasmin asked.
"That we are not going cross any boundaries?" Ates stated questioningly.
"Exactly! That means no sharing personal spaces."
"But I am going to pay for this place too, so it's only fair that I get a chance to sleep in the bed as well!" Ates stated adamantly.
"Fine! We can take turns! I'll use the bedroom for a month, and then you can get it" Yasmin negotiated.
"No. You can use it for fifteen days then it's my turn" Ates countered.
"A month!" Yasmin reinforced.
"Fifteen days and that's it," Ates said and before Yasmin could argue further, she realised they had moved too close to each other.
Too close for her liking.
