It was a bright sunny day, when all was okay for me. In Kyoto, Japan, I lived with my parents, of course. Though, today was my birthday. I wore a black yukata with blue chrysanthemums, and a red sash. My parents would also wear yukatas with different designs. Today was my 13th birthday. I brushed my shoulder-lengthen, black-blue hair into my usual ponytail I would always wear, but instead I added a blossom onto my hair. Soon, I walked to the porch, slipped on my wooden slippers. I took a deep breath and walked to the family room to find my parents knelt at the table. The table was filled with tea and other foods, and a beautiful cake sat in the middle. The cake was chocolate flavored, with no icing on top except for the words "Happy Birthday" written in kanji on the cake surrounded by thirteen candles. "Happy Birthday, Rina", my father says as I sat down. My mother nods and offers me to sit at the empty seat. As I knelt down in my seat my parents sang me the birthday song. When the song was done, I blew the candles. "Arigato (thank you) for the party and the gifts, mother and father, I appreciate it", I say formally. As soon as I finished that sentence, a piece wood that was on fire fell on the cake, and started to burn the table. I run out of the house quickly with my parents behind me. Once I got outside I found that I was alone. My parents weren't there. "Where are they?" I say in a low shaky mumble. In front of me was a house burning down, the door was blocked by the parts of fallen pieces. My hands tremble in fear, as I watched my home burn down. Tears rolled down my face, and I slipped off my wooden slippers to run away. I ran as fast as I can. As soon I left home, I was running to no where. I didn't know where to go, until I bumped into a boy who looked to be around the same age as me. He had messy black-blue hair like mine except shorter, his eyes were as deep blue as mine as well and, he wore a school uniform only without his jacket. He also had pointy ears, so he must be half-demon like I am. He looked at me concerned, and said, "Hey, are you okay?" I nod as he held his hand out to me to help me up. I looked at his hand, and he smiled. I took his hand shyly, and was helped up. I couldn't stop thinking about my parents and my home. The two of us stood there in the city. I suddenly zoned out after just thinking about the fire, until a hand waved in front of my face. "Uh, hey? Hello?" the boy says trying to get my attention. I blinked quickly as he asks, "Are you a demon?" I nod at the question. "Anyways....I'm Okumura, Rin, and I am half-demon as well," he says with a warm smile. I look up at his ocean blue eyes, and said," I-I'm Wakahisa, R-Rina," then I looked away shyly, since I never really was in contact with anyone or friend at all before. "Do you have a home?" He asks. I shook my head saying,"I had a home, until today it got burnt to the ground....with my parents in it." The next thing I know Rin took my hand, and took me to some dorm that belonged to an academy. He took me over to a room, which must have been his. "Wait here," he says, then he runs out of the room. I walked over to one of the beds, and sat on the bed. My hands were planted on the mattress for support. I overheard a familiar voice talking to some other person. "But Yukio! She doesn't have a home anymore!," Rin says. "No, means no, Rin, she may not stay here," the unfamiliar voice replied. "Dude! There is a Girl's Dorm! Can't we put her in there?," Rin asks. The other boy sighed and said,"take me to her so I can see who your talking about. All of the sudden I heard footsteps coming towards where I was. The door opened, and I saw Rin with some other boy who seems to be his fraternal twin or something come in. The boy had brown hair, he had the same ocean blue eyes like Rin, very few moles on his face, and some glasses. He was a bit taller than Rin, though. "Hello there, miss, I am Yukio, and you obviously met my older brother, Rin," the boy says. I looked at both of them wide-eyed surprised that they were actually brothers. "What? Is something wrong?" Rin looks at me concerned. "O-Older brother?"
I ask shyly. "That's correct, Rin is my older brother, though he CAN be a bit immature at times," Yukio says giving Rin a cold stare. Rin angrily says"Hey! I can be that way because I can!" I looked at both of them a bit frightened because I don't really know them, and the sibling rivalry is a bit new to me. Yukio then looked back at me, and said,"Anyway, who are you?" I looked at each of them and said,"I am Rina Wakahisa." Yukio looked at Rin, then back at me, and said,"Well, then Rina-San.....you may go to the room where Sheimi stays." I nod and head out of the room to walk to Sheimi's. "Actually It's the other way, Rina-San," Yukio called out. I turned around to the other direction to the room I will be staying in. Soon as I reached the room, I knocked on the door softly. I waited for a while, until the door opened and I saw a girl who had short blonde hair, and fair blue eyes. "Y-Yes? May I help you?" the girl asks. "Are you Sheimi?" I ask her, and she nods saying,"Yes I am, but what do you need?" I took a deep breath, and said,"Here's what I need: I lost my home, and had ran into Rin and Yukio, but Yukio told me that I have to stay in your dorm as a classmate." She looks at me concerned, then said," come right in make yourself at home, and I'll get you some spare clothes and uniforms to wear." I nod and followed her in. "Arigato," I tell her.
