I cleaned the deer at my usual cleaning spot in the woods. I grabbed all the meat and put it in the bucket. I washed my hand at the spring where you bathe. Then started walking back

I put the rest in the fridge my dad made in the basement. Supposed to keep meat cold even without power.

I came back up with meat and placed it on the wood stove. "There's a bathing spring if you guys need to take a shower." They were sitting in the living room. "There's another room, you guys can sleep in there"

While it was recording I started a voice VCR for that night.

"Welcome back to Kenzie's station. Todays is May 29th, 1977. We have some guests, Maggie and Alyssa" they both said hi "it rained a little last night in the area, giving us more water and we spotted a Buck on the way home. School is cleaned out and we're gonna get closer to Knoxville. If you need any help or anything, go ahead and join us in Sagwer. They will be here for a few nights"

"Signing off, Fred's Bub"
I stopped the VCR. "Alyssa, if you'd like I could put you playing your guitar on a vcr and play it on the station" I grabbed the vcr "if you'd like"

She didn't want to. They both slept in the back bedroom. I haven't walked back there in years because it was dads bedroom.

While I was sleeping I woke up to Buck barking. I got up to see Alyssa and Maggie raiding the place. I grabbed my shotgun. "What I'm the hell are you doing?!" I yelled at them as they dropped the stuff.

"Listen, Kenzie" Maggie said "I-it's not what it looks like" I pointed my shotgun at her forehead "then what is it?" She couldn't speak. Same with Alyssa.

"Go on" I said motioning at the door "get out. If I ever see you near here again I'll blow your brains" they ran out the door.

That was the last I seen of them. I spent the rest of the night cleaning up the mess they made. They only snuck a few cans out the door. I always remember reading that in a book dad used to read.

That's where I got the line. I would never kill anyone. That morning I stayed out of town. I worked hard for as long as I could remember. I looked at my notebooks. I haven't t wrote in a while.

I played the vcr on the truck and made a new one. I didn't mention them trying to rob me. I thought we were making a connection anyway.

I went for a walk in the woods today with Buck. Taking breaks here any there because he's getting older. I reached the peak of the mountain. "Look Buck" I said, looking all around. The town and everything

"It's beautiful" i said. I think dad took me to the top of a mountain, probably not this one but close. We headed back and I watched the sunset from the roof again, not falling asleep.

I read one of the poetry books to the stars. I looked up after i finished a poem "like it, dad" I asked looking up to the sky. I laid down on my back.

"I promise and I'm trying"
