Chapter 5
SABRINA almost dropped the plate of fried rice in her hands due to her hurry to put it on the table. Tyler had just entered the dining room.
“Hubby, have some food—”
“I’m not hungry,” he interrupted, glancing briefly at his watch. “I need to leave. I have a meeting at eight in the morning.”
Before she could say anything else, he quickly turned away and walked out. Sabrina’s gaze fell on the food now set on the table.
It’s been a week since Tyler discovered she was taking pills. For that long, he had been distant and cold toward her. Even though they still slept side by side on the same bed, he wouldn’t even touch her or give her any attention.
And it caused her heart to ache every single day.
“Don’t be sad. If you want, I’ll join you for a meal. I guarantee everything is delicious.”
She looked at Salome, who had a wide smile on her lips. She nodded, and they started eating. She even invited the other helpers to join them. Since she didn’t have any photo shoots or other schedules for the day, she planned to spend the whole day at the mansion.
After they finished eating, she decided to wash her and her husband’s clothes. At first, Salome didn’t want to allow her. Even the other helpers teased her, thinking they might lose their jobs since she took over their work.
“It just so happens that I don’t have any work today. Somehow, I just want to feel what it’s like to be a full-time housewife, even if it’s just occasionally,” she explained to the housekeeper.
Salome gave her an understanding look. “Alright then. You’re still young. Don’t force yourself if you can’t handle it,” she said with concern evident in her voice.
“Yes,” she replied with a smile, keeping herself busy with the line of laundry.
SABRINA sniffled as she carefully placed the prepared food in the lunch bag. Since her husband didn’t eat breakfast, she was sure he’d be hungry. That’s why she decided to cook his lunch, even though she barely had time to rest from her earlier activities. Tyler often skipped lunch, as mentioned by his secretary and friend, Rodel, when she asked him once.
After several years of being in a relationship and one year of marriage, it was the first time she had done this for him. She silently prayed that Tyler would forgive her.
“I’m sure Sir Tyler won’t be able to refuse that. Not only did you cook it with love, but you’ll also personally bring it to his office. I doubt he’ll resist,” Salome commented with a smile, watching her with approving eyes.
She bit her lower lip. “I hope so, Salome,” she said, looking at her, then carrying the lunch bag. “I’m leaving now.”
“Take care. He’ll surely be surprised when you visit his office, and he might even accompany you back home,” the housekeeper said confidently.
Sabrina didn’t say anything more and let Salome escort her to the front door.
As she got into her car, she took a deep breath before finally starting it to leave. She knew how to drive, but in truth, she wasn’t as skilled because they had a family driver who usually took her places since she got together with her husband.
Her heart ached again, thinking about how her husband treated her differently now. But she wouldn’t give up until they went back to how they used to be. She wouldn’t let one mistake dictate the fate of their relationship.
