A knock at the door sends Penny into a flurry of chaos.
Penny invited her boyfriend over to finally meet us, and she's very excited to show him off. She is just like her father.
Penny opens the door, shooing her little brother, Aaron, out of the way.
The young man who stands in the door is tall, athletic build, what I would call attractive. Blonde hair falls into his eyes, piercing blue eyes that could cut through metal.
Jameson hold out his hands for the boy to shake. He does not, instead, he steps inside, looking around the house.
"You have a magnificent house," The boy comments.
"Yes," My husband nods, "Yes, we know that."
"Oh, stop it, you," I slap his arm, giving the blonde boy a quick smile. "It's very nice to meet you. What's your name?"
"Cash Elliot," The boy responds, holding out his hand for me to shake. I take it gladly.
"Cash," Penny grabs his hand, leading him into the living room, "Quit being so... stiff." She scolds. I laugh.
All five of us sit on the couch, Jameson's hand resting on my thigh. Aaron cuddles up beside me, his maple colored locks spilling onto my lap.
Cash and Penny sit together on the opposite couch, watching us. They look like a real couple, so grown up and all.
"Penny is a very sweet girl," Cash breaks the silence, sniffing once.
"Hm, yes, she is," Jameson replies, "Did you know when she was young—"
"No, Dad," Penny interrupts, "Let's not tell those stories. Please."
"Ah, but, snuggle bug, I simply must embarrass you in front of this handsome lad sitting beside you."
"Let him continue, Penny," Cash bumps her with his shoulder. Penny sighs, and rolls her clear green eyes.
"As I was saying," My husband shoots his daughter a playful glare, clearing his throat, "Penny would wake us up with the song, "Baby," by Justin Bieber each morning, and she would haul the karaoke machine into her room each night while Avery and I were asleep to achieve her master plans. I think I have every word of that song memorized by now."
Cash laughs easily, his smile bright and glowing.
I quite like this kid.
I just watched the rain scene in Pride and Prejudice while writing this. The moods do not mix. Also, this writing sucks today because it's late and I'm exhausted, so I apologize.
