"Tetsurou, did you-"

"Make you lunch? Yup. It's on the counter. Take some onigiri for breakfast. Keys are on the hook closest to the door under your coat and yes, you finished your presentation last night." My father passes me and kisses my head as he passes me again after grabbing his lunch.

"Thanks a ton, Kiddo. I look forward to seeing yet another aced test later. Don't forget you have more college prep classes. Oh, and give Kenma's mother her container back for me, please." He smiles at me as I finish cleaning the dishes from making and eating breakfast.

"Gave it to Kenma to return to her yesterday."

"Oh, you're a perfect kid. Can't wait for you to be an entrepreneur or something great."

"Yeah, me neither." Hesitance laced my voice as he left the house.

Seems he didn't pick up on the hesitance. Thank the gods.

I look at the time. I have to get moving. I have to wake Grandma and Gramps first. I grab six out of the 9… there are only 7. Dad must have taken 5. Guess that leaves one for myself. It'll be fine. I'll just skip breakfast and add it to my lunch. Not exactly healthy but i don't have the time to make myself more food.

Taking 6 out of the 7 remaining onigiri, I take them to my grandparents' room and shake them gently.

Gramps doesn’t wake  so I decide to let him sleep. Grandma wakes though, but she rejects taking her share.

"No, thank you. But go. You have school to get to. Remember it's ok to not be perfect." She says to me, smiling and shooing me away.

"Love you two." I take their shares of the onigiri and place them in the fridge for them to eat later, before I race to the door, changing my house shoes for my outdoor ones and grabbing my bag.

Did I get everything? Yeah. Yeah I did.

I exit the house and run  until I catch up to Kenma who's waiting for me at school already. He likes to think the sooner he gets there, the sooner he can leave (despite the fact he very well knows that's not true). He's playing a game on his phone. It's called Honkai Star Rail. We both play it. Although he's not too fond of the game play, he still likes to play it in case he gets asked if he does, then he won't be lying when he says yes. The squirt plays it too, so that's also a factor.

I watch him play. I'd rather talk, but I know not what to say, nor do I know if he has the patience to, so I say nothing. He doesn't complain.

People pass by us, heading to their classes or to talk to their friends before classes start. I spy several of our teammates among the crowd and wave to them. They wave back.

I look at the time.

"We have to go to our respective classrooms, Kenma." He doesn't say anything, just gets up, looks at me, waves and then goes to his class.

I go to mine and start getting ready to sit down when I notice a girl in the back seemingly on the verge of breaking down. I look around, I think people have noticed, they just don't care to help. Setting my stuff down at my desk, I walk over to her and kneel to be face to face with her.

"Hey," sugar and concern coat my voice as I speak and she looks at me. "Are you alright?" She shakes her head. "What's the issue?"

She officially breaks down and tells me through tears. Turned out she had been having a tough day already. She hadn't got a lot of sleep trying to get caught up on homework, she woke up early due to a nightmare too and couldn't get back to sleep. She realized she had forgotten her paper at home, and she caught her boyfriend cheating on her.
