It was freezing cold. The sky was coated dark, sprinkled with gem-like stars.
The blond haired boy knew what he had to do. He couldn't understand why John wouldn't want to be seen with his ability. It made him easily puzzled.
Arlo waited for John by the empty 7-11, it was late at night. But he knew this was the only way. John wouldn't budge at school, or anywhere else.
It was oddly weird, considering when they are alone, John wouldn't stop talking. Not like Arlo cared much.
He felt the wind slice through his hair, the coldness tearing inside his bones making him shiver.
He spotted a short boy with jet black hair, immediately recognized him as John.
"John! Over here," He shouted, the black-haired boy quickly turned his head to Arlo's direction.
"Oh! Hey,"
His hair didn't have gel. leaving his hair rock hard like a helmet. For a while, Arlo almost forgot what was happening. He couldn't remember what he had to do, or anything, like how numb his fingers were or how the slushies were still warped around his fingers, making them almost pearl white.
Only for a second though
"So, what was it that you needed?" He spoke, his voice soft and slow.
"Just wanted to hang out."
Focus, Focus Arlo. Focus.
He just couldn't! What was going on with his head? All he could see was how amazing John looked snuggled up in a warm coat, why was he thinking this anyways?
He had to stay focused.
"So…"
"Here," Arlo said quickly, pushing the blue slushies into the brown-eyed boy's hands.
"You really didn't have to-"
"Just take it,"
"Thanks,"
John smiled a short smile, not one that reached to his ears, but it quickly made the blonde haired boy's heart skip a beat.
He sat down on the sidewalk curb, John quickly following his move.
Arlo placed down his drink, look up to the sky as the breeze flowed through his bangs.
"It's pretty cold out here." John whispered
"Yes..."
The silence was loud, piercing through like a sharp glass blade. It was obvious that this was going to be awkward.
